Brussels Sprouts probably. Never could try something that smells like a fart when you cook it. Everything else on the list is great. Off the list, I'd say okra, lima beans and black eyed peas. Corn really sucks when it gets into yer teeth though.

I simply cannot...I repeat....CANNOT stand collie flower. I don't know why, but even seeing it makes me gag and choke on my tongue.
On an unrelated note, border collies don't bother me at all. I was a Lassie fan after all.
i love all veggies....
may I ask what the fuck is okra? :wtf:
Brussels sprouts are, to me, the worst. I also don't like peas. And I don't really care if I never eat another green bean in my lifetime. I think they're utterly boring and go out of my way to avoid them.
I like broccoli, salads, spinach, asparagus, okra, cabbage, zucchini and pretty much everything else. Oh! Except for beets. Those go on the no-no list, too. When it comes to several veggies, particularly broccoli, carrots and cauliflower, I prefer them raw to cooked.
You've never had okra, Jim?Quote:

cool, gotta try that soon... maybe its just an Irish thing but I never even heard of it before.... Guess you learn somethin new everyday, huh? :)
Oh heavens, you're Irish. No wonder you don't know what okra is. It tends to be a temperate vegetable. But as diverse as Ireland is getting nowadays, I suspect you can find some in one of the many Indian or Middle-Eastern restaurants--or one of their groceries--in the big cities.
i can't believe i'm the only one here who detests carrots. i guess it's true, i am the only normal person in existence.
one of the many reasons i tread lightly when passing through the south.Quote:

yes we do and fried it's one of my favorite side dishes... i'd rather have it over french fries.... in soups/stews it's unbeatable... :p and i absolutely love chewing up the seeds really well... i love the taste... it's kinda weird... it's kinda bitter but at teh same time it has this cotton mouth effect... but i just love it..Quote:

i wouldn't... i mena it don't take a genious to prepare it... but if someone doesn't know how, it can be rather disgusting.. it's kinda of hairy (never notice it when it's cooked right, or cooked at all) and it does tend to get kinda slimey (think tomatoe innards but alot more sticky) and it's very easy to over cook (again, like a tomatoe, it's very delicate)Quote:

(i was never really around her either, so it's not me growing up on hers and only liking hers)
thanx for the advice, maybe gettin it in a restraunt r somethin would be a better idea to try it out
I like fried okra better than French fries, too, Slip!
Jim, if you get okra in an Indian or Middle-Eastern restaurant, it's going to be a spicy dish with lots of seasonings that may taste unfamiliar.
If you fix it yourself, here's what I recommend. Wash it well and trim both ends. Slice it up in about 1/3-inch cross-section slices (don't slice it lengthwise). Saute some chopped onions in butter or olive oil (or a mix) and then add some drained, diced canned tomatoes. Then add in the sliced okra and cook that all together till the okra is soft and tender. It's very good--and it's very good as a side dish with rice and/or fish, chicken, or ham. Plain cooked okra is usually done whole, but you really need to know you're an okra fan before you eat it that way. That's why I recommend okra and tomatoes for a first-timer. Of course, if you like Indian and Middle Eastern seasonings and spices, especilly very hot, spicy dishes, try it at one of their restaurants. It's in season now.
cauliflower. cause its just poser broccoli. and it has no taste, and its boring and white.
Ok....the word OKRA just plain sounds scary so I'm not eating it. :what: AND...thanks to slip.;)...I remember the absolutely WORST thing on the planet now....SQUASH!! Zuccini goes in with that too.....they weren't on the list. Oh God....squash. Even the word sounds disgusting.
DoN....I like carrots but I HATE them cooked.....does that count? :stoned:
As far as I'm concerned one of the major perks about being a grown-up (besides being able to have chocolate for breakfast) is I dont have to eat vegetables. I dont like them. I dont eat them.
I like the taste of most veg I just dont like the texture of some, ie, onions, tomatoes, especially peppers.
I love the taste of root veg roasted though its really nice and sweet.
asparagus is terrible. peas i hate i never have a spoon to eat them with and they dont sit right on a fork. also they taste like crap except when done right in pasta or something. cauliflower is the closest i think we get to actually eating a fart. brussel sprouts are bad too but i am almost never in any situation where theyll end up on my plate.
And olives. How could I have forgotten olives? Green or black olives are absolutely my most hated vegetable by a long shot. I hate olives with passion. The nastiest thing to ever grow on this planet. Far worse than okra, and okra practically gags me. How do people stand olives? So disgusting. They even leave the taste behind when I pick them off my pizza. Olive oil is one of my favorite things to cook with. But the olive itself is freakin' nasty. I can't help but to grimace just thinking about the way olives taste. Blech. We need a vomit smiley.
