I think that is enough said to show that he will probably be violent. Crazed crackhead? I don't know. I think the big question is, will he be on PCP? I won't lie, PCP makes you into superman... like get hit by a car going 40, get up, walk over, punch the shit out of the driver then take his car and drive yourself home. My stepmom's bros were on Angel Dust during most of their highschool lives. They are all productive people to society now with good middle-upper class jobs, they turned out alright, just providing some contrast to the crazy super-pcp-man scenario.

I know i always say this, but this time i really mean it - get a gun. I know, violence doesnt help matters, but if this guy poses so much risk, it's the only way you can be safe. You'll have the upper hand. I dont suggest shooting, but if he does come round and start any trouble, a gun is the best way to protect you and your family. He sounds like a nasty peice of shit imho, and if he does want revenge a restraining order wont do shit. At least with a gun you can control the situation, and if you have to, shoot for the arms and legs. At least then he cant away and he cant harm anyone.
I hope he doesnt come after your folks though - fingers crossed he just pisses off to live under a rock.

if you're going to go the route with a weapon. i strongly suggest you do something besides just go to the range and run through a few rounds. shooting at a paper target under perfect conditions with hearing protection is a lot different from being suprised and needing to react in seconds. i highly encourage you to do an urban assualt course or something along those lines. a lot of people tend to freeze when confronted with a hostile attacker. i remember when i did room clearing drills in the military, its a lot different than just aiming at a paper target and squeezing off a round. if you can't handle your weapon, there is a good chance you'll get hurt yourself.

probably the best example is from a movie, granted movies are movies, but this was a pretty good example of knowing how to handle a weapon and not. remember the movie collateral ? tom cruise comes out of a place and some punk points a gun at him, cruise swatted it out of the way and pow, two to the chest. granted it was a movie, but that one scene showed some good points. you better know what you're doing, and pointing a gun at someone is serious business.

If you get a gun please take a class so you know how to use it safely. Guns aren't as simple as people think they are.

Restraining order for legal protection
Large dog for home protection- mastiffs are very loyal and make good pets, but very protective of the family.
And some pepper spray for when they are not home.

What a sad situation. You can only hope that he does something dumb and gets tossed back in there before he hurts anyone.

heres some suggestions, things i would do

get your parents a big, defensive dog (german shepherd, rotweiler etc)
buy a gun
get a security system
ask your parents to take some kind of simple self defense class
get your parents a gun, or since chowder said they are against guns, get them some pepper spray or something like that
make sure they have cell phones to call for help if need be

and last but not least, DO get a restraining order. Get one just so that you have a reason to call the police if he shows up at your house. If your uncle comes by your house or if you see him around, he isnt breaking any laws-- unless you have a restraining order

a reatraining order wont matter if hes out for revenge. if he wants to hurt someone then he has no problem going back to jail. get a gun and keep it locked up.

that's the point of the restraining order tho.. i definately don't think it should be the only saftey, but it definately needs to be done.... it'll get him locked back up... which with his record atleast as it sounds, i'm sure the judge will have no problem locking him back up...

Firstly, as previously stated, get a restraining order on him. Then go buy a 12 gauge shotgun/and or a 357 magnum. If he shows his face around, remind him ONCE that hes under a restraining order, After that one warning, if he doesnt want to vacate, fire a shot into the ground as a warning shot. If that doesnt dissuade him, bust a cap in his bitch ass.

EDIT: if you couldnt bring yourself to kill him, buy a .22 pistol. Thats small enough to make someone think twice before fucking with you. They sell ratshots for those that would be a nice deterrent for the first shot.

Buy a good shotgun, it is much less of an investment (a couple hundred bucks) and more likely to work when you need it. There are also less restrictions to buy them, and you can use it for hunting or whatever if you decide to. For your parents, buy a BB gun. Take off the little orange thing, and you have an (apparent) deadly weapon. It's completely safe, though.
