Those are some lovely plants and buds GB. You are right when you say it only costs until you get what you want....then you don't care because it's great! :D

Thank you Weedhound, they smoked lovely too :)
I now have 3 super skunk and 3 hindu kush in the same grow tent, and am hoping for similar results.
:)
Yup, very nice GB. What size is your grow hut? I have the Hydrohut Mini so I am looking at yours and wondering if I should try 6 plants or stay with the four I am set up for.
Regarding your question about why I chose the drip system - I guess more than anything it was because I have never done hydro before and I was intrigued by the wonderful WaterFarm thread that BlueBear started. I liked the idea of being able to buy an all inclusive system since I had no idea how to build one from scratch, or even understand the concepts of why this one worked different from that one. I did integrate several modifications as suggested by Xcrispi, RacerX, WeedHound and others and now that I know how it works I could easily build one from scratch but at the time, this was the best option - for this hydronoob anyway.
Even though it is being overshadowed by the big PPP girl, I also have a bonsai TroubleMaker in the hut too. It was a cutting I took from my previous grow that I've been keeping bonsai by pruning and keeping my T5 lights quite low so it only stood a foot high (at two months old) when I flowered it. I have a phone book underneath it to level the canopy. I know it won't be a big yielder but they keep each other company and encourage one another.
PH has been taking some big dives lately - going down to 5.3 last night and again this morning so Im having to keep an eye on it again after a week of very stable PH. Probably related to flowering
Week three of flowering and bud sites are everywhere. The big girl has continued to grow in height some but is still manageable so far. I'd love to see this plant outdoors...I'll bet it would get 10 - 15 ft. Check out the last pic to see how it dwarfs the bonsai TroubleMaker on the left. The TM may be short but it's gonna have solid branches of nugs.
They look really good doco. Do have nice of lots budsites too. Keep up the good work.
They are looking very nice indeed Doco......
My grow hut is 1.2m square, and 2.1m tall. 6 plants can be a bit of a squeeze, and getting light down to the outer edges isnt so easy (i made some reflectors). I did consider only having 4 this time round, but i happened to have 6 clones so thought 'what the hell' :)
Keep the good work going, and ill post some pics of my new grow soon...
Hey Doco ,
I caught your comment on res. temps in ?? ph thread . I know the last thing you wanna do is swiss cheese the hut any but you could try the res / contrl bukt outside the hut itself - maybe near a rooms central a/c duct . Or I freeze 2 ltr . pop bottles of water and pop em in the res while the light is on .
Thanx for the kind words w/ hydro mod. deal - I couldn't rep you anymore yet . Jobs got Haze' name all over it tho . LOL . I'm in the same boat as you man , true mmj user that doesn't really need the exposure .
G/B Bro.

Thanks bud, no prob on the mod thing....youre always helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, patient and tolerant which I think are desirable mod skills. Plus Ive seen your mad grow skills. If Bluebear was still here, I would have put his name in the hat too. Stinky was the obvious excellent choice.
For the res temps Im probably gonna just get a small chiller or iceprobe like crazywill mentioned on the other thread. A goal is to have this system be semiautomatic eventually. I do keep my res outside the hut and yes I had to poke a hole for the tubing.
The PPP is doing well, filling out it's side branches and most of the rest of the hut. In hindsight I should have topped her twice to keep her smaller. The literature said medium sized plants- this thing is huge! Taking her time filling in, seems like a slow flowering strain but the pictures I saw of Jefteks Power Plant was absolutely amazing.
The TroubleMaker (Hindu Kush x Master Kush) is maturing quickly and is gonna be gorgeous with fat nugs. I'll have pictures Monday at 4 weeks
Hey Doco ,
I have a friend on another site that had temp probs and tried a cheaper chiller deal - drill like 1 1/4in. hole and install like a button deal into the side or bottom of res. ? Is this the probe deal ? It was like close to 200.00 and didn't do a damn thing for him .
Peace
Crispi
yep, thats the one I was thinking about, thanks for the heads-up.
It wasn't even in a real large res. either man , just a huge cloner .
I hollered at him since last post to make sure he got the right 1 ofter lookin at the link , there's 2 dif temp. ranges and he does indeed have the colder of the 2 . I been looking for a cheap pump powered chiller and theres no such thing so far = 350.00 - 400.00 . I'm prayin my bro. inlaw gives up on the saltwater reeftanks soon so I can nab his . LOL .
You find another cheap way out , by all means holler .
Peace

Brilliant thread... Plenty of motivation in here for any budding Dro Wizz, can't wait to see the bumper harvest you get of just 4 plants... good work
Thanks home.grower! Its down to two plants now but one of them is spreading out all over the hut so it still should be a good yield anyway - assuming they survive till harvest. I'm starting to wonder if me & hydro are like weedhound & soil - everything that can go wrong does!
So after finding that dropping pH can be associated with root rot, and reading a post from another thread, I dosed my PPP pretty heavy with h202 Saturday night - a quart of 3% in my 12 gallon system. It may have been a little too much. The pH immediately quit fluctuating and stayed rock steady the entire light cycle.
I was nervous about it and could hardly wait till next lights on to see how it took it... when they came on, she looked mostly fine but some smaller leaves at the main tops have curled down and look stressed. Overall the plant looks pretty healthy but I hope I didn't burn the root hairs too much. I did a res change last night and there was more sediment & crap in it than usual. The pH remains dead-on so at least something positive resulted. Will see how it goes. These pics are 48 hrs since the h202.
Here are a couple of pics. First 3 are the PPP and the others are of the fat little TroubleMaker Kush.
They look Great!! Still got a lot of room?
So far, so good on the room...I can only raise the light a few more inches and some of the tops are only a foot or so from it. It's a cool tube but there is still some heat off of it. Its digital and I am overdriving it by 7% too. If she keeps going vertical at all I will have to start bending some of the tops away. In fact, I may do that anyway just to be proactive. I should have topped her twice instead of just once.
Crispi, I am this close to getting a Prime USA 1/15 HP 750 BTU chiller for my res - it's $280 delivered. Claims it will lower the temp by 10 degrees in a 80 gal tank so it should be fine for my use.
BTW, anyone that saw "John from Cincinnati" on HBO last night - that show is set in my town and the main set (the motel) is only a few blocks from me. I see them filming around town all the time and Ive watched them do a couple of scenes...
Thats a good idea. I noticed some of the "upside-down canoe" leave. Those are from high temps and high nutrients. I'm having that same problem... my room stay around 90*F because we have a massive pool pump that puts out so much heat... Its whatever though.. I grow sativas don't mind the heat too bad.Quote:

It seems that my rapid pH dropping was a signal that I didn't interpret in time and when I did nuke it with H2O2 I may have overdone it. Temps were into the 90's on several occasions - 600w is a lot warmer than 400 even with the cooltube. Finally put a chiller on the res and finished the plant out. It had massive amounts of airy fluffy buds that taste & smoke great but are weird cause they are so fluffy. Here's a pic of one of them.
Finally found some Afghani Bullrider clones and grew a mother. Current (soil!) grow is 5 of them in my trusty HydroHut with a 600W. I flowered them early and didn't top these as an experiment since I have topped all my grows in the past, I wanna compare.
Anyway, just wanted to stop by and give a shout to the many folks here who helped me get started in this great hobby.
