I'd like to say at this point, that a properlu rolled joint WILL NOT waste weed, at all. When not taking a hit the joint shouldnt be glowing and giving off alot of precious smoke - it should be just about still embering, so it hasnt gone out, but so there is no real smoke comming off it. Yes, it's possible.
Just thought i'd point out joints dont waste anything.
Bongs do get you fucked up fast. On a really good bong you can take one gigantic rip and its easier to take way larger amounts than with a joint, blunt, or pipe. So you take as big a hit as you can then you start coughing a shit load and you're already high. Still if im trying to get stoned i prefer blunts. Bongs may get you there fast but i enjoy the journey.

I love bongs. I could rip a whole slide in one hit if I wanted. Me and my friends put hot water in a glass bong, and sometimes put cinamon drops in it. Its so much easier on the throat. It's more relaxed too; when I smoke a joint, I'm always trying to smoke fast so as to not waste. But with the bong you can just chill out and take a rip whenever you want. The bong is a ritual for me.
People say "0mg bongs" because they are fun, healthier, and conservative. I heart bongs.

I might be wrong. But I was thinking, perhaps bongs get you higher because while you still use the same amount of weed, the smoke that collects in the chamber of the bong has a higher concentration of THC. See i'm thinking that if all the smoke you create is a mixture of all the chemical compounds in the plant matter, only a small percentage of which is THC.
so when the smoke goes through the water, some of the useless smoke just stays in the water, but because THC is not water soluble, the THC just rises into the chamber unaffected by the water, and builds up into a more potent smoke. anyone get what im saying?
That is my theroy, also the better the technology in the bong has a great deal to do with it. Such as all glass no rubber, metal, plastic; also how many types of filtration because also mixing alot of oxygen with your smoke is bad, where the stale hit comes from; This has to do with carb placement(A pull bowl is the cheapest and easiest form Which is why most high priced bongs have pull carb/rush); Also water is not the only thing used in bong technology, the Cyclone/Hericane bongs use water and very small oxygen vents in the neck to filter tar and it works iv seen the tar build up. Also ice is a form of tar filtration; difusers/ percolators also aid in mixing water with your smoke filtering more tar. One more thing a water fall bong is technicaly not a bong its a water pipe, like most gravity bongs. The definition for a bong is a smoking device in which the water helps to filter the smoke.
