hmm elim, your plant is a bit thinned and looks like it needs either a few more 100 watts or a diff light fixture. hps work the best but mh are good for vegging. on a better note, looks like you got yourself a sativa =] and yes, it looks as if your soil is either to compact or your overwatering a teency bit. dont use ferts until you start12/12. in the meantime, up the wattage on the lighting. as for lsting, tie down your center cola gently to make the other 2/3 bloom. this will create more colas during 12/12 and ultimately, a higher yeild. just gently tie some soft hemp string (that faithless recommended) to the plant in between the first and second set of leaves. then tie taht string to a screw sticking out of your pot. if you dont have a screw there, just screw one in lol hey, itd help drain your soil a bit =P

ok i got 2 26w cfls, and 4 23w equivalent to 100w cfls, should i go buy more of those 23w, r they better than the 26w?
im waitin on the bottom of the soil to dry out more then im going to repot it.
i have the plant out side 2day its been out there for an hour, hopefully it will dry up the dirt more too.
i cant wait to start flowering, i think im gonna do that in a month. maybe 2...
i dont want it to stink to bad cause my dad cant find out.

metal halide, theyre on the red spectrum i believe which is good for vegging while HPS is strongly on the blue, which is good for budding. it could be other way around, but know HPS is good for buds while MH is good for veg. you should really consider LSTing your plants, or tying them down to make the other colas stand out more. your plant looks to skinny and to focused on its main cola.

how can i make the plant thicker in the stem?
i also dont got that much money so im tryin to go cheap, r mh's expensive? and can they go into a regular outlet? idk where to find bigger outlets for like the hps light.

insidesun.com has a 120 dollar complete HPS set. and to make the stem thicker have a fan blowing directly at the plant, itll genetically thicken up a bit to get used to the wind. also, wait about a week or so and start LSTing. LSTing is when you tie down your main cola. for now, the fan should thicken it up a bit tho. i strongly suggest going back to hps and put a fan in there. itll cool down the room and make your plant thicker.

i have a fan on it for 18 hours of the day..............

Get more lights!!!
Get the screw-in socket doubler (I don't know what they're called - they're a male socket on one end and double female socket on the other, so you can put two bulbs into one socket.) If you can afford a cord and socket, that would be better than a doubler. But get whatever you can right away, then get more of the "cool" - "daylight" - approx. 6,000k - bulbs and start giving some light to that girl. Get the highest wattage bulds you can find. Move your lights closer to your plant. The lights should be as close as you can get them without damaging the plant. Like 2" - 3".

You have to get a ballast to run that matel halide and the only other lights other than metal halides(MH) and high pressure sodiums(HPS) are compact Fluescent lamps (CFL). CFLs are the swirlly lights and you'll need the highest wattage ones you can get. Get the 5900k(blue) ones and a couple of the 2900K(yellow-orange) ones. Get

Truly, you need to go to the sections of this forum called "FAQ" and "Basic Growing" and start reading and studying what is written there 'cuz you haven't got a clue about what is needed.

lol dude, if you throw our advice out the window saying you dont have the money, than what the hell kinda advice do you want? "get a job"? i mean cmon, to grow you need good equipment which costs money. a 400 watt hps system with ballast included is about 130 on sale, so without that kinda money your not gonna get full wattage. good luck with the cfl growing but it wont make the branches as compact as if you knew how to LST while using a proper hps system. sry man, its gonna start skimpy and end skimpy unless you invest. good luck though, hope you get a few g's off it =]

LOL - aheadatime was a troll and got banned for putting up too much crap like this. His last post here was particularly funny because on another thread he was begging for advice and talking about his $200 budget.
Anyway, did you read up on lights in FAQ and lighting sections? The lights you want are anywhere from $8 each to two for $8.50 at Walmart. Home Depot and Lowe's. But you want to be sure to get the right spectrum of light, and that's what you didn't seem to understand before. A 6000k bulb doesn't cost any more than a 3,000k bulb - they just have different light spectrum output. Now as the watts go up, so does the price. For the cfl's that are available in Walmart, etc. the cost is insignificant, so buy the brightest you can find in the light spectrum you want and every time you have an extra ten bucks go buy another light. When you have 16,000 lumens total you might get the plant to properly.
You will want the 40 watt warm bulbs ($8.50) for flowering, so keep buying bulbs every time you have a spare $10 and pretty soon you should have five or six 40 watt cfls and if you add those to your cool whites you'd have about 32,000 lumens and that should flower one plant - ya'd think.
Always pay attention to the real watts on the cfls, not the equivelant watts.
Elim, my last post might have sounded a little bit pissy, particularly after jerk-off followed with his nonsense, but it wasn't meant to be. The FAQ and basic growing sections on this forum have a lot of good information for us noobs, and I sincerely felt you needed a better understanding of light because you weren't understanding what was being said to you.
Anyway - it was meant to be friendly advice and I hope you took it that way. I hope the above helps you out a little more.

don't know if you got your ferts yet, but if your growing in soil then use fish emultion. you can get it from home depot... great for the plants and it's all organic... and you can also get some shop lite holders at home depot the have the metal 9" round shield on them they work great with CFL's... but you should get some type shied around them lites.....:wtf:

Its the other way around, HPS emits a red spectrum good for flowering, and Metal Halide is a blue light good for veg

Dude - not to pile on here, but there has been some good advice from some knowledgeable people here, yet you're going to do something your mother says instead to save a few bucks?? Stop sending cash on comic books or whatever you buy and buy the freakin's fish emulsion and the bulbs - if you're going to do this, do it right. Otherwise you're wasting your time.

Right heres my tuppence worth, read up in the FAQ section it contains a wealth of information then if there is something you don't understand ask there are loads of people here who are prepared to help BUT you must take on board what they say.
It would appear that you are working on a fairly tight budget and there is no shame in that at all, yes bigger budget would probably help but with a little care and listening to advice from experts (not your mum bless her little cotton socks) you should be fairly succesful, for instance you were advised on at least 3 seperate posts to raise your baby up to the top of your pot it should have been done the first time, dont think I am getting at you its just I have been there and done it so to speak. I made loads of mistakes and most of them were sorted by what I learned on this forum.
You must take advice from people on here nobody is trying to trick you we all want you to succeed.
Remember you are trying to grow a weed if left alone outside and you do nothing to it will eventually give you a crop but with a little care and attention you will get it much quicker.
Also be grateful that your parents are OK with what you are doing, if you dont mind me asking how old are you, me I am nearly ancient :)
Cheers

i dont really know any brands of organic nutes, but i have been using worm castings for veg and bat guano for flowering. iwill prob. use some castings during flowering too, since the guano has 0 nitrogen. ill just look for the signs and add as needed. im not completely organic either, i use 20-20-20 2 or three times during veg. by the end all the nasties will surely be out.
