Never seen a hydro system that cut the flowering time down on a strain - but I haven't seen everything. Have you done side by side comparisons? Me and a friend have run side by side with the same well-known clone, he in hydro, me in soil and flowering time was still the same - although in the hydro setup he outyeilded me due to veg time being quickened ie he got more done in a shorter time - for controls sake I flipped the lights same day as he, though I would have normally waited another week or two.
I have never seen soil yield what hydro yields. finishing time is the same.
Keep in mind that the longer you veg...the longer it takes to finish a plant.
Sorry SS. I don't agree with the statement that hydro allows for shorter veg times. If a plant from seed is not mature when flowered, then the potency will suffer.
Good to see the old debate open for the millionth time. Peace
when you say the potency will suffer latewood at what age is the min for having them produce at full ability? I'm about to drop mine into flower for a few reasons and they are from 6 inches to 12 inches tall at this point but they're over 5 weeks from seed and have a min of 6-7 nodes plus top
Cool topic. I can't add anything, but I think the finishing time should be about the same for both methods. Other factors play a big role. I'd like to see a comparison with ALL other factors controlled. It'd be hard. Either way, I don't see the difference as significant, if it is there at all.
Hey, man! Ain't seen you around in a while. Welcome back, man.Quote:

I can try and spout out figures and such. but you all need to figure out what method or timing or even environmental choices on your own. If you need to flower like you say for space issues. I didn't say there was anything wrong with that...from seedling this is pretty immature. You need a minimum of 2 months to reach true, minimum age for flowering. It's funny I have this old marijuana growing book from some professor in the 70s. He let the plant go with 18 hours of fluoros all the way. It took a year for the plant to finish. It was comical...looking back on it, but this guy was a pioneer even though he was wrong in some methods. Bottom line. He grew pot and dried it, and smoked it. His own way. lol Peace Enjoy.
I would strongly recommend a cloning program so you had more mature plants
