just came back from working the grill at the bar i work at (usually not cooking)
went in blazed as well... :)
i don't dissuade anyone from going to work in the kitchen,
as many others said.. you get good hookups!

I've line cooked (Italian, Mexican, Health food), Prepped/cooked (Catering, Country club) and tended bar (brew pub, Japanese hibachi steakhouse, Chinese cocktail lounge, Country club, Catering, etc etc etc) and DAMN do food service peeps love their Shrek.
Makes sense, since you get it from both ends- customers and head chefs can be fucking EVIL!!!
I've worked in a resturaunt before, a bar and grill, and the people there were some of the coolest. Nice people, free food, we got stoned at work all the time with the owner who was this crazy Aussie, but I hated the work. On a Friday or Saturday night we would have a resevered table for 20, then a party of 13 would walk in, and another party of 10 would walk in like, 30 minutes before closing. It was stressful work and I will never do it again.
But it was a fun experience.
