i found that video clip sort of disturbing ... ever seen this episod of "wife swap"? it had this pyscho mom who refered to herself as the "christian warrior" it was fucking hillarious but i felt real bad for her kids ... this sort of reminds me of that bitch
the only way to change it is to be as vocal as they are. to admit atheism in polite society is considered incredibly gauche, but to spout archaic christian dogma seems to be totally acceptable. now that religion is so firmly entrenched in the political arena, maybe we should attack it with the same zeal that they have always attacked the unbelievers.Quote:

I'm a Christian, and I agree that those kids are much to young for that kind of thing... in fact, I'm not sure any Christian needs to try to get that worked up. I personally have found the living the Chrisitan life with the Holy Spirit guiding me is exciting enough without having to do group cheerleading chants about it.
That being said, these people are not in the slightest bit dangerous (violently speaking). They may chant about war, but they are talking about it in a purely spiritual sense. There have been Christian groups that raise their children to be this excited and this involved since this country was founded. It's only now that you get to see it on you tube! So don't worry, if this sort of thing was going to create "Jesus suicide bombers", it would've happened a long time ago.

Sure, those who call themselves "Christians" have killed people before... such as the KKK. I think what he's getting at though is that there are numerous christian atrocities carried out in the name of god, whereas atrocities from atheists were driven by their own political/moral/psychotic ideology that was held aside from atheism, not driven in the name of it.Quote:

How you think a 3,000 year old history of christian atrocities is outnumbered by crimes in the name of atheism is beyond me. History has shown an inredible amount of violence in the name of religion, including christianity; the crusades, salem witch trials, spanish inquisition, alsmost 2,000 years of pagan oppression and persecution... The only major atrocities carried out in the name of atheism I can think of occured in the 20th century by communist regimes. And since atheism was only a piece of communism, it seems communism gets the credit as the primary driving ideology.
This is exactly the problem. Religious believe has some special status and no one can criticize it. I believe it is important that atheists dont give religion this undeserved status.Quote:

i've seen camps like this and actually have been to them!! it is getting blown way out of proportion. the video is a compilation of things and some of those things (if not from within its sub-culture) can easily be misunderstood. i am not saying it isn't overdone or eccentric, but they have the right to be as eccentric as they want. why ridicule them for their beliefs when you are so annoyed at them judging your beliefs??? doesn't make much sense...
as far as brainwashing... these kids will end up like me and most of you, rejecting the things their parents taught them when they get old enough to understand on their own. no worries... they will be just fine
watching a couple minute video on something does not quite give you the info needed to slander those people with comparisons to hitler and terrorists, but do what you will cause i am sure you wont stop because i said. i will not become like the fundamentalists and judge them in return for their judgement. if you judge them for judging you, YOU ARE NO BETTER THAN THEM.
Religion is brainwashing. Religion has destroyed the relationship between me and my brother. Before he met his wife, we could joke around, we smoked weed together, we hung out, but more and more he fell deeper into the brainwashing camp of religion. Now when I play my music around him, it's evil, when I play my guitar low end with distortion, that's evil, TV is evil, smoking pot is evil, being gay is evil, etc...
I can't even have a discussion with him without God coming into play. I hate it, hate all of it. He seriously thinks that if a gay couple raised a child, it would grow up to be crazy or a serial killer, those were his exact words. He's brainwashed.
My mother grew up in a Catholic household. She was adopted along with her brother, yet her father got drunk and beat the shit out of them. He would lock them in a closet, beat them with his belts, while their mother stood back and watched. He cheated on his wife (my grandma) with prositutes, and even gave his adopted son an STD, that he got from dirty hookers.
Religion can kiss my ass. I wish I could have nailed jesus up on the cross myself, because he would have got it through the eyes.
