You're dead right.
A J is simply put an abbreviation of joint.
Spliff is just another word for joint.
Blunt is a hollowed out cigar filled with ganj.
A ganja joint with tobacco is a mix not a spliff.
And a joint is a joint is a joint (tapered or not) simple really

a spliff has weed and tobaccy

blnt - rapped i n cigar or blunt wrap
j - joint
spliff - ges from fat to skini
joint - marijuna cigarete

The L in the UK (may well differ wherever you are) is two "skins" (papers) stuck together to form an L shape.
