Not a bad choice. Safe/big, not too fast. The Northstar is bulletproof - a really good motor, I know people that have had em in sandrails and they hold up to a LOT of abuse. Not the greatest mileage though, and FWD :(

Congrats :D
Just be careful buying used vehicles at dealerships. They seem like a good deal, but keep in mind that you are just buying a vehicle, that someone else didn't want anymore for a legit reason. I have had friends and even my brother buy used cars before, and at first, they ran great, but after some basic wear and tear on the vehicle, it's real problems started showing through again.
Seems like a '96 Caddi. with that much HP, for that price, seems too good to be true.
Take it to get a safety inspection, and NOT by the dealership you are buying it from. Take it somewhere else where a business is not associated with the dealership. Dealerships are slimey bastards and my pops can tell you that. ;)
Caddi's are more than capable of producing that much HP. They have power to them, but they are a boat, and very hard to drive and handle.
But hey, if that's what you want, then go for it, but I would consider at least looking at other cars at other places before deciding on something you see, and like right away.
That's because you NEVER had to drive one that was older than 1 year old and STILL under WARRANTY!!!!Try getting a 10 or 20 year old caddy and see if you still think they are such great cars. You will either be stuck on the side of the road every month or two, or you will be so broke you can't afford the gas to run the gas guzzling dinosaur. They cost nearly as much to fix as a fucking MERCEDES fer christs sake!! and a door handle will cost you at least 200.00 for a mercedes.I dont even want to GEUSS how much an actual part for the engine would cost.TOO DAMN MUCH!I'd buy a lincoln before I bought a caddy. And frankly, I doubt I would buy a lincoln either, they break down almost as much as caddy's and cost nearly as much to fix.Quote:

I suggest you stick with your Civic, it is a MUCH better value as well as a better BUILT vehicle than your grand dads caddy. Not to mention it probably gets DOUBLE the MPG that the Caddy does.Quote:

Got to here and was like, WOW, you're really fucking lucky. Getting a car for your 16th b-day, that's great, your mom's great for getting you something like that. You should always be grateful for being hooked up like that, never take it for granted. Then I got to here:Quote:

It's something a person can really use.Quote:
so anyways theres this 1996 cadillac seville its red, chrome wheels, leather, everything 10 cd changer 300 hp just fully loaded the works even has a sun roof and every one knows smoke rises but yeah im prolly gonna get it tomorrow me and my dad are going to test drive it its only $ 5995
So, I'm not gonna say you don't deserve it or anything. You seem ecstatic which is great. Even if I had the money like that for my kids, I wouldn't do that for imho I would be spoiling them. But I'm just trying to say your parents are really doing something generous for you, never forget it.
Oh, and by the way, congrats and Happy Birthday! Drive safe.
yeah basically whats gonna happen is their gonna sign their names on the papers and all and pay my insurance but i have to make the car paymaents and gas money so i think its more then a fair deal.
