If your (ex) friend has any sense after you told him what or how you feel about being betrayed by him if he has a conscience at all.that would hurt more than a few physical blows. If not than he was never a friend so therefore you would not be missing much.

He could have been trying to spare your feelings by not telling you, perhaps he did not realize that you'd prefer him to tell you the truth. You said you guys are best friends but maybe you guys don't know each other like best friends should because there seems to be some confusion.
