Sweet buds shallow hal. good work. I might think about upgrading in one of my future grows. Keep them green!
dont know much about "to much light" but i know that those buds look delicious..
We will be running 1000 HPS 400 MH cool tube that will cover about 4x4...
expecting good things.. but with 10 day veg.. I don't think huge... but nice and fat and easy to trim... super skunk
I had some bleaching issues before in my Green House... usually the girls were not ready for that much light....cal-mag seemed to help...

hey,
I bleached a few leaves on a plant earlier by putting it too close to a 400 watt mh... the two leaves went white, i moved the light higher and it recovered well, so just keep an eye on it...
I think that you might worry more about becoming inefficient. that much light in that small an area will grow some big dank buds, but is it worth the extra cost in electricity? Its not cheap and you can still pull down some great weight with less... you definately have some diminishing on yeild per watt, if you size down to a small space. I am not certain about this, but I imagine that at some point, the size of the root structure, and the levels of c02 could become factors limiting the ability of your plants to actually use all that light.
do you have room to expand?
I saw 4 - 600 watt bulbs 10 inches from the top of 50 plants growing SOG.... in a 4x6 area...
The tops of the plants turned white like VOLKER said... and they stopped growing....
I did some research and found out that this actually happens in nature at very very high elevations...
the lights were raised and the tops of the plants turned green again.. and the plants ended up giving a monster yield....
Like VOLKER said, it fooked up the chlorophyl... but it did not kill the leaves... but it did STOP growth.... it is very difficult to achieve this indoors....
cheers
PS.. MR. HAL...
HATS OFF to ya brother.. nice .. very nice.. :)
ta knowmie, yet again this the results u can get from flowering ur clones straight off . the nycd seems to be a very large producer , i am also trying out a new strain of me called "pot of gold " most indica ( hindu kush X skunk1) i am told iy is a very hight yielder give a massive 600 grams per sqr meter . i'll keep u posted. i have found flowering clones straight off allows the plant to produce nice main colas and also allowing the lower buds to fatten up too.
any thx for all ur kind comments
KEEPING IT GREEN!!!!!!!

"...Sunlight is the main source of energy near the surface of Earth. The solar constant is the amount of power that the Sun deposits per unit area that is directly exposed to sunlight. The solar constant is equal to approximately 1,370 watts per square meter of area at a distance of one AU from the Sun (that is, on or near Earth). Sunlight on the surface of Earth is attenuated by the Earth's atmosphere so that less power arrives at the surfaceâ??closer to 1,000 watts per directly exposed square meter in clear conditions when the Sun is near the zenith This energy can be harnessed via a variety of natural and synthetic processesâ??photosynthesis by plants captures the energy of sunlight and converts it to chemical form (oxygen and reduced carbon compounds)... Ok, well, let me do the math...*thinking out loud*
Based on MASTERJOINTSMITH's Wikipedia finding...
The sun, on a clear day (best conditions), can produce 1000 watts per square meter (3' x 3' = 9 sqft)
That is 1000 watts / 9 square feet = 111.11 watts per sqft
Shallow Hal said 1200 w in a 4' x 4' area (16sqft).
1200w / 16 sqft = exactly 75 watts per sqft
Now, SCIENTIXT, how big is your cab? You said 4.5 feet...but what does that mean? Certainly that is not your square footage...? From the picture, guesstimating from the size of the hood...it looks like you have about 2 ft by...well, 2 ft...wow, I guess it is your square footage...! OK!
Well, then in that case...
1000 watts / 4.5 sqft = 222.22 watts per sqft
TWICE THE INTENSITY OF THE SUN...!
That's a lot of light...don't bleach them. Beware...
Temps and humidity are a given...must be controlled...
BUT, looks like this is a prime candidate for TOP BLEACHING!
Good Luck, SCIENTIXT! I hope you just get MASSIVE buds with no ill side-effects.
Be cool.

Damn! I think I need to build a bigger cabinet. I have the space so that is not an issue. I also have CO2 capabilities but I don't have it hooked up yet. I will keep an eye on them to see if they have started to show signs of stress. DAMN!!!! I guess this weekend isn't too far away to build another cabinet. I will keep posting.
HAPPY GROWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
