OH MY GOD NOOOOO!!!!!!! That makes me sooo fucking sad! He left the family to go get help and the family survived him. THAT IS TERRIBLE! They were found just a couple hours from where I live, this same kind of thing happened around this time last year with a family in a motorhome-although they were found safe. This is such sad news, I feel for that family. Thanks for letting us know about this, I can't belive my state is on nation news. I swear man, Oregon snow is some dangerous shit. It is not smart to be taking back roads in the winter, especially in a SAAB of all vehicles. This is truly sad though, that poor woman with her kids...it was such a happy moment when they got saved.

I figured he was going to be found dead after they kept finding articles of the fathers clothing...
At least he died honorably, trying to save his family. Hopefully all these people getting lost in the snow in Oregon and it making national news will make people realize that they really need to be smart about driving in the snow.

It does seem to happen every year and it is so sad. I guess when you don't live around the mountains you just don't understand how fast the weather can change.

We need more good moral people in this world. I just don't understand insensitive people IAP. It is like they have never made a mistake and think anyone that does should be punished for it. Maybe they had wicked parents or something. I don't understand being like that :(

I mean shit, if I were the dad I probably would have gone to search for help too. They were stuck for quite awhile, he wanted to save his family. How was he supposed to know they were going to find them? He was in a state of panic, he was cold, hungry, dehydrated..and probably lacking sleep. People aren't going to be in the most clear headed state of mind when they are stuck in the family with their 7 month old baby and their other really young daughter and their wife.

The wife was very smart to let both of her children breast feed off of her, I am sure that is what helped keep them alive.

That man was brave and scared, he wanted to save his family, he knew the risks before he went searching, as well as his family did. It's too bad that it turned out for the worst, in his situation. At least the family was saved, still though, I understand why he left..and he died in honor, and he knows that and so does everyone else. He was not a stupid man, he just loved his family.

I am practically in tears over here....just breaks my heart....that poor family knows that he died for them. :(

but well that is absolutely horrible..after reading that i just got really depressed. well depressed isnt the word its more like, empathetically horrible. i cant even imagine what it would have been like for him or his family during all of that..i hate feeling powerless like this, i wish i could do something to help! what a great man..dying for his family, but they survived anyways? thats ironic AND depressing :[

No, they did find him. His body was found in like a drainage thing for a creek or something like that. I can't quite remember exactly what, but it was in an article.

I caught that on the news this morning. I was really hoping they would find him alive. I also heard on the news that they got the map from Google maps and that your not suspose to take those back roads during the winter. When they looked on Yahoo maps and another one I cant remeber they gave safer directions.

my comments are backed by truth, they teach everyone from a young age to stay put if they are lost and that guy didnt listen, its what happens.
i dont think i would be crying for my mom if i was stuck in a snowstorm. i would be trying to figure out what to do to pass the time while i wait in one spot for the rescue team to find me.
