Wheelchair (brand) Weed?
Since I noticed the triploid branch, I've had this silly idea percolating through my head of getting hold of some pollen and fertilizing at least 1 node of that branch, should it turn out to be female. My (fuzzy) logic being that a triploid plant would have half again as many nodes, or 1.5 times the yield of a "regular" plant.
So...
Are tri-lateral nodes a genetic thing? Or is it caused by stress of some sort? I'm confused because only one branch is displaying it.
If it is a genetic thing, is there some reason this type of trait shouldn't be bred in? Can it be bred in? I'd imagine it'd be a multi-generational thing, like when I was breeding cichlids. (I developed a strain of convict cichlid with a pronounced & detached first spine of the dorsal fin, called it the "spike convict", sold a few hundred to pet shops in the SF Bay area in late 80s, dunno if still around)

Wheelchair (brand) Weed?
In checking the plant over carefully, I noticed all the branches (except the "triploid") are 1st node 2 leaf, 2nd node 1 leaf, 3rd node 2 leaf, 4th node 1 leaf, etc. Every other node is a one leaf node. This makes me even more confused. As though this "even odd" is either triploid phenom "elongated", or the "triploid" branch is "even odd" squatted down. What is the correct term for this type of "even odd" growth?
And how come it took me till the plant was almost 4 weeks old to realize this? I must be stoned.

The branches have all settled down, and are now all doing it bi-laterally. I also decided to top it via FIM.

Wheelchair (brand) Weed?
When I got up today, all kinds of leaves were sticking through the top of the tank, and were up into the hood. So, I stripped out the mylar carefully, tipped the aquarium on it's side, re mylared, and tore apart the aquarium hood to use the fixture to make a hood that fits iside the tank.
For the hood, I used a cereal box and lined the inside with mylar. I used a set of "tv tray" legs to hold it up. I have a "bracket" stick ready which will raise it another inch when I need to.
By the time I need to raise the hood higher, I'll have jury rigged another suspension.
Neat thing is, I can peek in the sides without having to open it up.
