So how's your seedling doing now?
:o It has a new set of leaves growing, but by the pic you can see obviously slow. I finally figured the problem was the heat/dryness. I think I've solved the problem and it should green up soon. I flushed it too, because I am using a pre-mixed potting soil. I am calling it- IT- because all of the stress I have caused it! It's going to be a hermie prolly, so this is my plant to beat and abuse so I can learn. Sorry IT! Today I should have my three new sprouts...Hopefully I'll be a better parent to them.
Keep trying! It's amazing how you can change one thing only to discover that the plant does a complete turn around! Make sure his/her little roots stay damp/not dripping/not dry. What are you watering with? Can you check the ph of it? (Sorry, but it does not look perfectly fine to me can gro)
Thanks for taking intrest Weedhound- Well at first I watered it with well water (left out to temp/evaporate salts, the same I use for my houseplants) which it did fine with. Since the color change, I have been mixing the the left out well-water with distilled water. Bout 50/50. I am also have a rain collector out, but wouldn't you know it, it hasn't rained since!!!!!!! I don't have a ph ckr, but I really think it is the heat ( I had foil around it because for approximately first two weeks it had insufficient light...and I didn't remove it when I got the new lights, now foil is removed). Not to mention this grow is in my furnace room/closet (5'X6' guesstimate, the water heater and furnace are in there so subtract that room), lol. I definitley need to invest in a thermometer and a ph kit. What inexpensive ph tester do you suggest? Keep in mind I will not buy anything online...Stores available to me are Wal-mart, K-mart, Home Depot, and Lowe's. Although HD is farther.
As for my new sprouts....I used that premixed stuff, again....from Kmart Martha Stewart Product info: sphagnum peat and reed-sedge peat, perlite, and slow release ferts (i know now bad at this stage, but read) This product is regionally formulated from organic-based materials derived from one or more of the following: sphagnum peat moss, reed-sedge peat, composted forest porducts peat humus, a wetting agent, horticultural perlite, lime for proper pH balance, and a slow-release plant food. .09-.09-.09 They have a website...I am going to check it out, what should I look for? Or should I say screw it and go to Dollar General and get some cheap mix? I have vermiculite from growing some popular psychadellic fungus- I am aghast that I could grow those and not a simple weed- but no pearlite on hand. Let me know what you think my best possible course of action is at this point.
Sorry for the ramble, however I find myself high... Again thanks for the intrest.
I'm gonna say screw the soil I think....I have a new seedling trying to push through and I am watching it. Here is a new pic of IT...camera not very good but it is starting to green up and still new growth on it today.
Hey, I really don't know if anyone is following this thread, But, in case someone does a search on this soil...it's fine. My problems were heat induced. I have attached a new pic of IT, and IT's sisters. They had a little stretching, but I improved my ghetto set-up this morning. Please notice how much stronger/thicker the stems are in the new sprouts compared to IT. I am guessing the redness of my stems are due to warm conditions, but I don't know. IT's getting so old it needs nutes...but hopefully IT can wait til Friday when I go to town. Anyhow, thanks for looking! Happy :rasta: !
I just had to share two new pics of IT and it's sisters...Ava, Bea, and Cee-Cee. Look at the diffrence in the wrong way and the more correct way of raising a plant! The seedlings are only four days old and they are bigger than IT. I think IT is almost four weeks old. IT will be the tiniest plant ever!!! I am planning on getting a fan, nutes (mostly for IT since others aren't ready), ph kit-if I can find, new pots, and some lsting material tomorrow...thinking I am going to use yarn...I don't know. I have to buy so many things -the list keeps getting longer! Well I'll check back in with more pics on monday, hoping there will be a change. Any comments or tips are always appreciated. I wanted to mention- brookerosebud (if you read this) that your posts have helped me tremendously in choosing how I am going about the lighting. Even though I haven't conversed with you, THANK YOU! Also Thank you to all the countless others that have shared thier logs as well....I pour through everyone trying to absorb any pertinent information. Happy Toking everyone!
For those of you still following my first ever grow...Here are some updates/pics. While my photography skills are still lacking, enjoy. 1. Ava has some weird turn in her leaf...don't know what that is about. 2. Bea doesn't have good enough draining soil..but is doing good (or too close to light?? don't know), 3. Cee-cee is still the runt, but can't tell as much now. 4. IT is still the tiniest plant EVER! Also included pic of ghetto set up and cheap materials...I could have gotten something other than miracle gro, but I REALLY couldn't decide. There was a flower nutes and a pansy nutes...one was 12-4-8 and the other I cant remember, but it was a smaller number than 24 for nutes....no ph tester yet, hard to find this time a year? Comments always appreciated....Well if I don't hear from anyone- Till next time, Happy Tokin' S
