Does this light fit into a normal socket?

Heh, you've seen my flowering cabinet. But these bulbs weren't for that; I had too many females, and couldn't bear to kill them off, so I started eyeing a tiny closet, and that's where I threw the CFLs.

It's pretty shitty-looking, and I'm kinda embarrassed to show the closet, as you might laugh at the resorts I am going to in order not to kill off these overflow females! No ventilation except for leaving the door ajar, not painted, not much mylar, just a cubbyhole with a buncha CFLs.

One of the overflow females is a Sativa-dominant Durban Poison x Skunk #1, that came from the only seed I could get to germinate out of a pack of Nirvana freebie seeds from another order. I have had this plant since April or May. I kept it in a 1/2 gallon pot most of that time, and it became totally rootbound and droopy...but that did keep it from getting TOO gigantic. It's in a 5-gallon pot now and recovering from the transplant. It's been heavily LST'd, but if it hadn't been, I'd guess it'd be at least three feet tall now. It was FIM'd with three main branches which are quite thick now, so I'm scared of what it's going to turn into when I go to 12/12 (which I plan to begin this weekend). The other overflow plant in the closet is about 10 inches tall, Nirvana Blue Mystic, Indica-dominant. My plan is to rotate those two plants in and out of this closet every 12 hours, with one plant always in there, and one always in darkness in a different closet. A poor man's light mover, sort of...me! But I'll be moving the plants, not the lights.

Once I start my normal flowering cabinet flowering, I'll have another eight 23-26w cool CFLs I could throw in the closet too, which I might. Wrong spectrum, but I'm sure it would help. That'll be a ridiculous 600+ watts of CFLs in there if I do that. Might not be able to use those, might trip a breaker, but I'll see soon.

Oops, guess the 10" Blue Mystic didn't make it in the pics, but it's not really all that interesting anyway. To deal with the difference in heights between the two plants, I plan to just turn some pots upside down and put the shorter plant on top of those, to elevate it toward the lights, which I will leave so that they're in decent positions for the big plant, and whatever happens happens. It's an experiment. I won't cry if both of them just die, but I think I can get 'em all the way through flowering okay this way. How much they'll yield...who knows. But way more than they would if I just killed them, which was the other option. Heh.

you need to get those cfls onthe side, much closer to your plant...

You should also take about 20-50 clones from that freaking TREE and then transplant her into a new container with GREAT soil mixed with perlite.. Cause right now you have some stunting going on.. Not sure exactly what is the cause..

And then 7 days after you have cloned the SHIT outta her.. turn her to 12/12..

Naw, I don't really want any clones off that plant, too Sativa-ish for my limited spaces. It was a freebie seed, and when I planted it I didn't know that. But I haven't the heart to kill it. What I wanted to do was breed it with a White Rhino or a Blue Mystic or something, or an AK-48 but I have no males, haven't seen one in a while, half a year. Never thought I'd view no males as a bad thing, but I didn't expect to go THAT long without seeing one, sheesh.

The stunting is from such a big plant being trapped in a tiny 1/2 gallon pot for five months. I'm actually pretty amazed it got as big as it did, as it was SERIOUSLY top-heavy in that little pot! How such a tiny root ball could support such a big plant, I have no idea. But it was intentional, stunting it like that, while I figured out what to do with a Sativa-dominant plant. I came very close to killing it off a number of times, but just didn't have it in me, and the longer I kept it alive, the more reluctant I became to kill it.

I added some more mylar in the closet, and another four bulbs, for 500ish watts total (but only about 38,000 lumens, not nearly as efficient as an HPS light). And I have eight more CFLs I'll probably see if I can add in there later, to bring it up to around 50,000 lumens (for 700 watts of power) in there. That may trip a circuit breaker though, so I'll see. Not efficient at all, but don't have the bucks for a second HPS light at the moment, so just making do.

And...she began 12/12 today, sitting in a second closet now in darkness, while a little 10" Blue Mystic is in the lit closet getting some light. It's gonna be interesting trying to keep that tree in there for two months; hope I can do it! The closet I'm using for the dark periods is also where my clothes are. Lol, I bet they are gonna reek of growing cannabis after two months of sharing space with flowering females! ;)

I'll probably start a separate thread, if anyone's interested in watching me battle with the tree for the next two months or so.

can you actually give the plants too much light..I don't mean the heat....the heat can be managed....but is there such a thing as too much light?...like you mentioned four of those bulbs surrounding and growing freakin monsters...I was wondering if depending on the size of the grow space....when do you achieve too much light? or do you?:rasta:

Nearly impossible at elevatios under 10,000 feet..

It can be done with indoor lighting but IT REQUIRES many LUMENS...
IT does not kill the plants right away either.. what happens, is the tops of the plant begin to turn white.. they loose the chlorophyll... the stop performing photosynthesis.. and then when you raise the lights they get their color back...

To actually witness this you need a shit load of light with incredible ventilation so that you don't burn your plants..

I carried the big plant and showed it to the woman (she very rarely looks at the growing stuff -- only once ever in fact, unless I bring it to her). I named it 'Big Momma'. The woman said, "Damn, that's really pretty, just adds a lot to the look of the kitchen, wish it was legal to just keep it in here as a house plant." She's really recovering from the rootboundness, spreading out in that 5-gallon pot, stems getting thicker, leaves recovering their color, far less droopiness. Big Mama's in the dark closet now stinking up my clothes, but I'll start a thread when I take her out and put her in the light again.

Probably have enough to afford that, then my clothes wouldn't get as stinky, and Big Mama would have some more room. Easier than piling a bunch of crap in front of the closet door for lightproofing every 12 hours too. Then later I could add a fan, carbon filter and a light and boom, a second flowering box! Anyone ever use one of those HydroHuts? Are they any good? For the price, they look pretty decent to me, but it's hard to tell just from reading a description on a website and looking at a little picture.
