Its actually not a "warning" to hard core drug use.

If it was about Hardcore drugs destroying your life then the movie would be called "Requiem for a Drug User"

In this case its your dreams.

The meaning of the movie to me, is not how Heroin and other hard drugs will ruin your life (its just a theme for the story, to add depth to the characters), its that how your dreams will never come true.

But hey, thats just me.

And yes the song is very excellent.
