20/20 special "last days of earth"
Yeah, I'm sorry, it's just that I'm really getting annoyed at the destruction of the English language that is taking place on the Internet. That, combined with the lack of bud around here, has turned me into a raging grammar Nazi.
P.S. You spelled "unnecessary" wrong you stupid whore! AAAAAAAAAAAH! Calm down, Oneironaut...
I'm gonna go see if I don't have any resin to smoke. This sobriety stuff is pissing me off.
20/20 special "last days of earth"
this show had nothing to do with god
or any kind of spiritual crap
thsi was plain and simply what can happen
most likely its not but it could
for example
they were talking about
yellowstone national park
under yellowstone lies one of the
worlds most volcanic places
if that place blows up
its considered a supervolcano
the ash and debris from that explosion
would block out the sun which will trigger
other things to happen
in 2029 some asteroid is predicted to reach our atmosphere
and dip below communication waves
6-7 years later its on course to return even closer

I watched it.. and wrote them a letter.. There was a lot of bullshit science within it. it was pretty much a scare tactic. I was hoping there would be some NEW information in it, or at least something good, but there wasn't. It was just a big GLOBAL WARMING IS OUR FAULT AND WE"RE ALL GOING TO DIE SOON SO WE ALL NEED TO BE YUPPIES AND BUY ELECTRIC CARS AND DO YOGA propaganda bullshit video.

Did you know the word "supervolcano" was invented by the sensationalist docudrama writers? Before the BBC came out with the program Horizon in 2000 the term wasn't used by anybody.

Shit, I missed it! I wanted to watch it too... I wonder if they'll air it again?

I don't get it, but apparently people like to whack off to end of the world scenarios and these kinds of shows get tons of viewers, which is why they make them in the first place. Giving people the dry, scientific truth that the end of the world is very unlikely in the near future doesn't captivate them the same way.
Umm, even if there was a God and the Bible was true, you'd still be wrong. Ever hear of something called the "Apocalypse"? Yeah, guess where that word came from? The Bible! Check out that whole Book of Revelation thing. You know, it's that one book at the end of the Bible that describes in detail how the world is going to end.
Umm, it isn't. The International Astronomical Union, which decides what to call things in space, has recently ruled that Pluto is not a planet. If you have a beef with it, take it up with the IAU.
Oops, I'm sorry, let me write that paragraph in a language you can understand:
ummm it isnt the international astrological union which decides what 2 call things in space has recently ruled that pluto is knot a planet............................................ .if u have a beef with it take it up with the iau!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I rather doubt that it'll air again, Budsmoker and MJitC. Those things don't tend to be re-run unless they're just hugely popular, and I'm betting that that show was enough of a downer that it won't be in huge repeat demand. You can almost certainly get a copy of it from the ABC Web site, though.
I thought the show was good but also depressing. Except for the special effects, which they used to graphically show some of the means of planet destruction, it wasn't all that sensational, I thought. Sure, the concepts themselves were scary and grabbed your attention. But they grounded all of what they said on how unlikely those scenarios are, at least during our lifetimes. Some of them, like an asteroid hit or a supervolcano or a black hole, might be possible within 10,000 years, they said. When it ended, I felt depressed but also fairly safe in the knowledge that I won't witness planetary destruction other than what we do to the planet ourselves in the form of global warming. That was the number one threat, and it's closer--and more certain--than any other threat we face.
I thought the strangest part about the whole show was the fact that it was hosted by Elizabeth Vargas, pregnant as can be, doing her last on-air work before going on maternity leave. It struck me as strange that a woman a month or so away from bringing a new life into the world would host a two-hour feature about the end of our planet. Seems like Barbara Walters would have been a better pick. At least she's closer to the jumping-off place!
