black and white poly is cheap and reflects 90% of light
As far as paint goes, you got semi gloss, enamels, mylar, latex, spray paint, satins. But where are you going to get the ingeredients for the paint from. Barney the dinosaur??????? Maybe you should just use wallpaper.
aluminum foil can be used, but u cant use the shiny side, u must use the lesser reflective side, like with using mirrors, useing too reflective of material can cause hot spots on the plant and burn it causeing more harm then good.
Tinfoil is a waste of time. Really.
I use the white/black plastic. and i would have thought it to be a lot better than white paint. With the plastic it reflects images (like a mirror) at certain angles and is really glossy, seems way better than paint. As well it is very strong and can you can easily change it around
:D :D cant believe i am going to try to give adivce :D :D
I used this stuff called reflectix (i think thats what it is called) it is like bubble-wrap but covered in thick foil (some of it you can even pop !! :D :D)) anyway and from what i know it is really cheap and is nearly as effective as mylar, shoudl be able to get it in any DIY (home work) shop under insulation because it is a really good thing to keep things inuslated.. :S hope i helpe :D :D :D
1: Take a piece of thin wood painted flat white, and photocopy it. Copies Result: White
2: Take a peice of mirror, and photocopy it. Copies Result: Black
3: Take a piece of melamine/mica, and photocopy it. Copies Result: White with sparse spots of black.
4: Take a peice of tinfoil, and photocopy it. Copies Result: Mostly Black and many white spots
Conclusion: Mirrors suck.
I have no Mylar at hand so I cant test it to see its reflectivity through the simplistic science experiment of PHOTOCOPY. If some one has a peice and a scanner, please do so and let me know ;)
I just go to the dollar store during the christmas excuse me the holiday season and by the super shiny wrapping paper. The non decorated side s just as good as mylar but nowhere near as expensive. If u like me and keep leftover wrapping paper u can try that. If not just wait another month and a half and buy some from thte dollar store.
Hope it helps
