AND, the trade they wanted was 2 Israeli soldiers for *hundreds* of their people. And the percentage of militants that Israel releases that turn around and begin killing Israelis again is huge. That was a bad trade, and nobody could blame Israel for turning it down. That'd be like someone with 2 dollars asking if you'd take that and in return give them 500 dollars. Uhhh...no thanks. I'm sure Israel would have traded 2 people for 2 people, but that exchange was never offered.
And Hezbullah is certainly funded by Iran. Who do you think procures their weapons and missiles, pays for their clothing and food and logistics and TV time, etc? These guys are militants, they're not working a 9-to-5 bagging at the grocery store and buying missiles with their paychecks. Without Iranian funding, they'd just be a gang of disheveled dudes wielding sticks and standing in a field looking angry.
