I've heard about weed "going bad" and it's always kinda worried me. How long does it take? And what exactly happens??

Mould can do serious damage - need to make sure that the Airtight container is "burped" to let out some stale air etc. That can ruin your bud almost overnight.Quote:

So curing for 4-6 months = Jolly Good
Storing for 4 years and expecting a better smoke - not likely.
Anaerobic bacteria cause a lot of the breakdowns in curing, also the level of Chloropyll will drop (helps the weed taste better) over time which is also a benefit of the curing.
why the hell didn't you smoke it like 3 months ago?.... Did you forget about it or go around the world or something?
Whenever I pick up a really good strain I vacuum seal an 1/8 or so and save it for future use. I recently smoked some Sour Deisel that I had sealed up for at least two years and it was almost as good as the day I bought it. Actually it was just as potent but had lost some of the scent and taste. Maybe that's from the loss of chlorophyll that Delta9 mentioned. Still a really nice smooth smoke though.
