Thats cool doob...I got my start in the ground too. Had planted a dozen germ'd seeds...most sprouted...then the bugs came along and changed all that.
Tried again...then it was the weather that wrecked the early growth.
Then I switched to growing in containers outdoors. Made a huge difference being able to bring them in at night or during a down pour. I've been indoors though ever since all the lots around me were cleared for homes not yet built. The back of the place just got exposed to the line of sight of three upcoming homes.
I'll get back out there next spring though. I planted tons of cover that will be tall enough for me to grow right outside the porch. :D
Anyways...outdoors is about as cost effective as a grow can get. But starting now...ehh...well maybe...but only because record hot summers tend to make for warm starting falls.
