Let your friend make his own choices. Pot should never get between frienships... ask him if he wants to smoke with you, if he doesn't let it go and if he ever does he knows who to come to.

Blah, joints are really harsh. I proposed the gravity bong for the first time because if you want to get HIGH on the first time, the gravity bong will definitely do you justice. It took me seven tries to get high for the first time. So maybe I'm being a bit...assertive. Use a bong/bubbler/vapo it will make the first time much more pleasant. And, yes, if he doesn't want to do it, don't force it.
