youre write, its short for a whole chapter, but that isnt the whole chapter.. i just got bored one mornin and write that, so as for back story, i havent worked all that out yet, i was just messin around to see where itd take me.. thanks for the advice :)

(the beginning to the story i posted was written in about half an hour, and i was severely sleep deprived, almost to the point of hallucinating. anyway, i did it realyl quickly without much thought, so i decided to spend a little longer on it, an hour or so this mornin after a few hours sleep lol :D this is just a rewrite of what i posted at the beginning of this thread, but its a bit more thought out and better written, also a little clear)
Prologue
With her ear against the door she could hear male voices; some angry, others tired and fatigued.
Running away from Emma, the house chef, had been madness - in fact, sneaking into the pantry and stealing a few chocolate bars had been madness - but entering this room to hide would be suicide. Only she had no choice; Emma would surely come this way to look for her. Lana put her hand on the brass handle, and turned it. She entered the room, not recognizing any of the faces that turned to greet her. There were 12 or so men, seated around a large, mahogany conference table - if these men were angry before, now they were livid. She greeted each man with reluctant nod, and approached the head of the table where she knew her grandfather would be seated.
"May we help you, young lady?" came a familiar voice from behind. Lana turned to look behind her. Martin, Emma's husband and butler to Lanas Grandfather, was standing behind her, a tray of brandy glasses in one hand.
"Surely you're lost?".
"Actually", replied Lana, "I've come to see Grandad". She wasn't about to be patronised by a mere butler. "He promised he'd come and see me when he got here only, well, he didn't, so..." Her voice trailed off as the man at the head of the table rose to his feet. "Who are you? Where's Grandad? Why are you in his seat!?" Some of the men sniggered at her questioning, others suppressed their laughter. The man seated at the right of her grandfather's usual seat had a sorrowful look on his face, which he quickly disguised as a look of concentration. Something isn't right. This man was sitting in Grandads seat!
"I'm afraid, dear Lana, that I have some grave news for you. It pains me to have to be the one to break it to you, but as I'm the one now in charge, the task falls to me." Though he was trying to look sympathetic, he couldn't hide the smile on his face quickly enough. Lana didn't think she liked this man, despite being warned not to judge people on first impressions. "If you would like to come with me into my chambers? This conversation will require some... privacy" He emphasised the last word and again, most of the old men sitting around the long table smiled. It was clear that they already knew what this man was about to tell Lana.
She followed him through a large door and into the private chambers of her Grandfather. Lana had never been permitted to enter this room, not even as a baby, so she was surprised to see that it wasn't decorated quite how she had imagined. She had pictured an enormous room with a high ceiling, with gold and mahogany and other expensive decorations - a room fit for a king. However, the room she entered was a smaller than she had imagined. Portraits hung on the walls - royalty, poets, painters, scholars, politicians - and she recognized most of the men in them. A large chair sat in one corner, covered in fine purple velvet, and two similiar but smaller chairs were in the opposite corner of the room. A small table stood in between them, and already Martin had placed a silver tray of drinks upon it, probably brandy or whiskey. The air smelt faintly of cigars, a smell that reminded Lana of her Grandad - he had been smoking them for as long as she could remember.
"Please, be seated". Lana moved across the room, and sat in the larger chair, obviously her grandfathers. The man allowed himself a faint smile and placed himself in one of the smaller chairs facing her. "I'm afraid that is the last time you will be permitted to sit in your grandfathers seat, Lana. Alas, it no longer is your grandfathers seat" His voice may have been threatening, but Lana did not notice - it was what he had said that worried her.
"This is his chair! And anyway, he always lets me do what I want. You're not exactly gonna tell him what he should let me do, are you?" Lanas grandfather was a man of great importance. Obviously this man would hold less authority, especially concerning her!
"Well, my child..", he started. He looked up at her face and, as expected, she was was showing deep contempt at being called a child. He continued. "I'm afraid there have been some slight.. changes. Your grandfather, though an undoubtedly powerful and persuasive man, no longer has much control over proceedings as you've grown accustomed to" He seemed to be taking delight in saying these last words. "As you and I are both aware, he has some powerful friends - friends in high places, you might say - but I felt, as did many of my colleagues, that radical action must be taken in light of recents events." He started to become emotional, talking more to himself than to Lana "We simply could not sit around and let your grandfather continue as he was. It was getting out of hand - people were scared, petrified even, that with your grandfather in command these rumours would soon become reality. Somebody needed to take control. Something had to be done! Your grandfather --"
Rumours? Lana had heard strange rumours from a number of friends at school, but surely these weren't the same rumours. She cast her memory back a week, to the last time she had attended class, and the room had been buzzing with her noise of her classmates frantic whispering. There had been talk that the all of the residents of Little Redword (the town of which her grandfather had, up until now it seemed, been High Governor) were planning to leave town. Why? she had asked. The responses were many and varied, but Lana managed to get the jist of the original rumour. Something or someone is planning something, something big.. Something which had the whole town in a panic and talking of leaving Little Redword. But what? None of the answers her friends had supplied seemed to make sense.
" -- was voted out by the Council of Governors (something I can assure you was not at all to his liking) and I was voted in to take his place" He smiled, but she did not return the gesture. A whole stream of thoughts were racing through her mind, each one fighting to get to the front of the pack. Instead she just sat there and stared at this man, until at last he spoke again. "I can see you're surprised, Lana, and that can only be expected. Children do not often understand politics, and when they try to do so, they usually get it wrong" At this, one thought overtook the others, and spilled out of her mouth.
"I'm not a child!" The smile faded from his face, but his eyes, she noticed, remained the same - cool, calculating, evil. She pondered over this for a few seconds. Who is this man? She meant to ask him, but was interrupted by raised voices from the conference room.
"I'm afraid our little chat is over. Please, do not think ill of me. I may have replaced your grandfather as High Governor of this town, but I assure you, I have it's best interests at heart. No doubt you will thank me one day, though you may not think so now" With this, he strode to the door and held it open for Lana, and she returned into the conference room. Emma was towering over an old looking man, and they were exchanging harsh words - obviously Emma was looking for Lana in here after all. I'm in trouble, she thought, and followed this man, the now High Governor of Little Redword, out of the room.

Anyway, yeah I still write.. I was just joking before. I never show anybody what I write, though.. not until it's finished. And i've never properly finished anything to the point where i'm happy with it - i'm too much of a perfectionist. +lol+
The chapter I posted in this thread was something I wrote in about half an hour. I was stoned at the time, and had been working on something else but started this when I was taking a break. I didn't mind showing you guys this because like I said, I only wrote it half an hour, didn't put any thought in to it and it's totally not the kind of thing I usually write. I never went back to it though. +lol+
