Thats the problem with proselytizing monotheistic religions, they breed fanatics like crazy. Not that there aren't millions of rational, good hearted people who follow them.

"Us - western world, freedom loving, democracy, seperation of church and state, Freedom of religon , equal rights for women.....ect"

Hell yes! I had a feeling that the end of the Cold War would make the world safe for conventional and unconventional war. The problem is the dip shit in the white house is taking advice from the Nixon playbook...

Terrorism is just the most recent scapegoat to scare people into submission. The Catholic Church had Satan. Hitler had Judaism. L. Ron Hubbard had body thetans. McCarthy had communism. Nixon had drugs. Bush has terrorism.

Not that terrorism isn't a legitimate problem; it is. But restricting civil liberties at home while setting Muslim countries on fire from the sky isn't going to do anything to reduce terrorism; it can only aggravate things. However, the politicians have got people scared enough that they can't think these things through.

One word...

Egotism.
