Don't feel bad, I usually make a living playing/singing, and now I cannot even get a Bass player to complete the group...got keyboards, and no frickin' Bass player...

Just try writing more songs. Right now I spend about four hours a day in the studio, not recording, just working on chords progressions and melodies. I then take about two more hours to practice with the band.

I also study other bands songwriting, chord progression(s), lyrics and rhythms. For instance I am looking into alot of hip-hop and dance right now( I am trying to make some danceable songs) even though my influences have nothing to do with those styles, I just want to stay up to date. Its also funny to see how much bands steal from each other, the Coldplay song "Clocks", for example, has the exact same chord progression as Daniel Powter's "Bad Day". And Coldplayâ??s "Speed of Sound" is just â??Clocksâ?� in a different key.

Western music is simple to write. Yet so few people really try to get into it. Shit just gets easier as you go.

Oh man I'm glad you like it. Beulah broke up a couple years ago unfortunately, they're one of the bands I badly wanted to see live. They haven't had much 'popular' success, but for music lovers, they are highly admired.

A couple more to check out from the same label: Neutral Milk Hotel, which is literally the heart and soul of this label. In An Aeroplane Over The Sea is the best album of the 90s. Period. It's like accoustic psychedelia, but even that's an understatement. It's a stand alone album. Also Elf Power. Their first two albums, "When The Red King Comes" and "Dream In Sound" are just fantastic listens.

However, you claim you write better! I definitely have to check your music out!!!!!! Too intriguing :)

kinda music me and my band are getting into is like staind realy cool acoustic guitar songs... but then again we like to get into a bit of the heavier stuff as well as far as recording goes havnt landed any studio time yet looking into that in the future.... like you said dude it is getting easier we just entered a big comp the winner gets a marshall halfstack and 2 grand so hopefully we win and get spotted by someone... i hope anyway guys just broke another string when i was jamming b4.... so ive got to go change it peace and love ....

You should look into getting Cakewalk for your PC, itâ??s a great recording program. It will help you guys really see how you sound. Since you listen over and over you can get all the little things corrected that you would normally miss.

BTW, copywriting is so fucking expensive. I am getting it done this week and its like $30 a song if you do it individually. I think mine might be done as a collection to bring it down a little.

I still use good old reliable Cool Edit Pro for my studio...
Oh yeah, I still blow the dust off my old Yamaha 4 track Metal cassette tape deck for a retro sound.
