The weed will not give you cancer. Recent studies have shown no link between smoking cannabis and cancer. Blunt wraps, however, are tobacco, so they might.
Tar and ash are irrelevant. The carcinogens in cigarettes are not what gives cigarette smokers cancer. The tobacco plant's root structure happens to be very good at absorbing radioactive elements, including the ones in the legally required phosphate fertilizer that all US companies use. The main radioactive substances in commercial tobacco are radium and polonium-210. These are what cause most of the cases of lung cancer.
Cannabis alone might give you a cough due to irritating your throat (not much you can do about that, except smoke less or in less harmful ways, like with a vape), but it's not likely to give you cancer.
First of all, no 1 blunt does not = 20 cigarrettes. cigarrettes are horrible for you. 4,000 chemicals, 50 chemicals which are KNOWN to cause cancer. Nothing in marijuana can cause cancer.

Yea theres chemicals in blunts and it has tar but no where near as bad for you as cigarrettes. smoking anything of course is not good for your lungs. And i would recommend smoking out of a bong, instead of a blunt, less tar and much safter and easier on your lungs.
And for your smokers cough,
#1 Cut back, you shouldn't be smoking that much daily, unless your trying to kill yourself.
#2 Exercise, Do Cardio, Run, Bike Ect. The MORE the better.
#3 Drink more water
