There was no way that bill would have ever gotten through; the media would have been all over it. Senators and Reps would have loved getting the chance to talk to the press about how they alone thought it was wrong.
At least that aspect of our government still works good.

Hi Torog..Its a shame you view ALL violent offenders as a group..I was classified as a violent offender at one time in my life and it is very outdated to classify ALL convicted criminals as being unfit to vote..even after serving time,paper..etc..what happened to second chances? And no way am I including sex offenders in this category..they are a breed of their own imo..anyway..just my viewpoint from the other side..I thank God I was young enough and blessed to marry a good man and better myself..and I do vote.:thumbsup: btw..Alabama finally has pending legislation on self defense..the year 2006..finally.:thumbsup:

sex offender should never be let out anyway,but once you have served your sentence you are supposed to go back into civalisation and be a productive member of that sociaty..hmmm how can that happen if your only a second class citizen,if you are not allowed to vote you shouldnt have to pay taxes because you have no say in who spends your ££££ or $$$$,like ive said in another post ive been to jail for weed and ill be going again very soon,so by what your saying im not fit to vote,for such a great country the USA has some real lame laws.

Yer right maam,I apologize..I do have a bad habit of lumping folks into one group..there are always exceptions to the rule,and I need to be mindful of that. For instance,a woman that's charged with assault,because she defended herself from an abusive husband or boyfriend,or those charged with assault,for defending themselves.

I was wondering if we could all get along on this site for this issue and say that no matter what neither Clinton or Kerry should ever be in the White House...
I don't think anyone wants them and I'm sick of all the news talking about them... no one wants them... we need complete new ideas... not retired business mongers in office...
2 terms in government than find another job... If they make it to the ballot I'll know they were rigged... it's a joke that the media won't shut up about Clinton either... it's like the want her to run just so they will have news to talk about, not because she's good for the country...

Howdy Torog! I just wanted to update you on the pending legislature..IT IS NOW LAW! Yes! Alabama finally has a SELF DEFENSE LAW..and it is being broadcast and Prosecutors are telling Robbers and others now..If they break in a persons home..we no longer have to be put in danger to kill..now all you meth heads in Alabama should think twice before coming in while folks are sleepin..the law covers shoot to kill in self defense..Yes! And any of you others reading this and want to flame..go right ahead..your time might come you wish you had a law to protect you and yours. Go Alabama!:thumbsup: Now make it retroactive and free the innocent people in prison in this state that were wrongly convicted that are now covered by the new law.

Afternoon, Shelbay! I have a question, and it may be simply because I missed another exchange between you and Billionfold that I don't know about. But did he misquote you or make it seem you're a potential murderer in another thread? Because here it only seemed to me like he was asking for clarification on what you meant. I think that was why he wrote it the way he did, asking "are you saying. . . ?" I certainly didn't get the feeling that he intended any offense at all but was truly asking because he was trying to understand what you were saying.
