Vetrans ... what do you keep from your plants at harvest?
I just cut up the stems and leaves and threw it in with one pound of butter.. Let it SIMMER!! Stir every now and then. Squeeze the cannabis, and stir again. Never let it cook, or else the THC will evaporate, and you'll eat cannabis free brownies..
When it has simmered and the butter has a green color to it, you are to separate the "used" cannabis from the butter.. Voila, a simple recipe!!:)
P.S. It works or me.. There are other, more detailed and complex ways o doing this.. :p

Thanks!
I actually just found a recipe released by the country of Canada for their medicinal users, on making flour from stems & leaves, then using 2 ounces of that with a pound of butter (instead of the normal 1 ounce of straight pot) to make the butter.
You can go stright pot, but if using stems, leaves & maybe seeds, you want to use twice as much... which would lead one to believe that there is half the THC and good stuff in the fan leaves, stems, and seed husks.

I get rid ofall stems, large fan leaves, and i keep the crystal coated small leaves and smoke em with the buds.

I have read 2 seperate lengthy harvesting/drying/curing guides. One says to leave the fane leaves on for better THC, the other says to trim them.
The only benefits I can see to trimming the leaves before hand is time of dry, and not having to deal with trying to trim dry leaves... can anyone confirm?
Is there benefits to keeping them on?

I dry, and run mine thru wood chipper for my compost pile...I got tired of having all that crap around...too lazy to make hash or butter...I just trash it as I manicure.

I was told that the slower you let it dry the better. So I think people leave the leaves on during drying is to keep it wet longer. This is actually really important if you live in a super dry place like me.
20% humidity. And around 10 Degrees in the summer. Stuff drys fast for half the year.
I think cuting the fan leaves off and leaving the bud leaves on for drying is the best. Then right before the bud leaves dry up to the point that they are going to be a bitch. I cut those off too. let it finish drying. And put in jars.
It's important that you hang the whole plant during this process as well.
From the bottom of the stock. So it drys as slow as possible.
Thats my opinion.
Also, I don't mess with the stems. But 30 % of the THC in the plant is in the leaves.

Jdog,
That sounds really good, and likely what I will do tonight when I harvest. Do people ever keep the fan leaves on as well... do you know?

I am getting ready to chop her down... can anyone tell me if they have ever heard about drying with the fan leaves on and if it s a good thing... if time is not an issue?
Thanks

I would leave all of the fan leaves on and hang her upside down whole to dry.
This ensures a nice even dry.

Thanks Grim! I thought I had read somewhere to do this, but I read more about trimming the fans off... I am in no rush, so I want the longer way and I think you just confirmed that... so thank you.
Here I go, my first harvest!!!!!!!!
