i can answer that... the faster you pull, the faster the smoke is going to get into your throat and the faster your throat gets that burn in it makes the exhale come quicker.... so burning it slowly can build up more smoke before it gets to your mouth
(talking about a bong i presume)

water bongs give you a higher ratio of harmful chemicals/THC then other conventional methods of smoking, water bongs cleaning the 'smoke' is a very common mis-conception.
as for the original question, i'm sure it has something to do with how much/how thick the peice being used produces it's smoke. i'm not exactly sure why or how, perhaps (as i recently heard in the 'don't hold the smoke' thread, the thc is pretty much absorbed instantly) it's becuase the said peice produces alot more smoke, in which you lungs absorb more THC. for instance, i get alot high off my bong then my pipe, but i also get alot higher air/smoke ratio in my pipe, then in my bong, even if using the same ammount of weed.

that doesnt make sense. unless water cotains harmful chemicals how could it make the smoke worse for you?

i'm sure someone will come behind me and post the info on it, as i don't know where it was (it was an actual break down of smoking methods) and it's not that it puts more harmful chemicals in it, it's the fact that it gives you a higher ratio of harmful chemicals/thc... anyone who knows what i'm talking about please post the link to the site... cuz i can't for the life of me remember where it was..

hate to burst your weed bubble there slipknot, but your wrong...the only difference between a pipe and a bong is that the smoke goes through water. the water filters out some of the cannabinoids in the smoke. so to review...bongs just clean out some shit in the smoke thats not too good for you.

Disappointingly, waterpipes performed uniformly worse than the unfiltered joint. The least bad waterpipe, the bong, produced 30% more tar per cannabinoids than the unfiltered joint. Ironically, the pipe with the electric mixer scored by far the worst of any device. This suggests that water filtration is actually counterproductive, apparently because water tends to absorb THC more readily than noxious tars. Like the waterpipes, the cigarette filter also performed worse than the unfiltered joint, by about 30%. Researchers speculate this is because cannabinoids are exceptionally sticky and adhere to other solids. Hence, any filtration system that picks up particulates is likely also to screen out cannabinoids.
note, this is from NORML, so it is very unlikely the information is wrong, since they are pro-marijuana afterall....

THC doesnt stick to water..and last time i checked water wasnt a solid? =/
i thought the only thing THC would stick to was fatty stuff like milk, im sure the ppl in the cooking section know somethin about this..

you'd be suprised how much you 'know' about weed, is in fact not true.... don't take my word for what i said, take norml's word for what they said... thc isn't water soulable, that doesn't mean some won't get stuck in the water, just like acetomenophin isn't water soulable, but if you use the extraction method for vicodins you can bet your ass there's atleast still a little bit more chemical you want out of the vicodin, stuck to the acetomenophin.... tell me why NORML would put out false information, when they only aim to legalize weed?
