		Diamondback isn't a bad brand. It'll have entry level components and such but should be ok for riding around town and mellow trails. 
 
 Don't be too quick to rule out a second hand bike though. I picked up a nice 2nd hand Stumpjumper a while back for $250. That bike kicked ass and was well worth what I paid for it. I probably put 1000+ miles on it before it was stolen.

		just look for a used one from someone that lives close too you so you can look it over(take it to a bike shop to get it checked out). You will find a better deal most likely.....if your only gonna ride it for a bit thhough just wait cause the resale price will drop alot

		get a used one and just spend the extra on better parts. Id get some disc brakes and better front suspension. Downhill can be intense!

		I dont downhill, I mainly do jumps and street mainly street, and I preffer hydraulic(sp?) brakes much much better for stopping in short spaces of time.

		for riding around on trails and shit like that i just use my huffy mt bike, but when i want to go down to the skate park and fuck around i use a redline.

		I bought me a new mountain bike 2 years ago and only used it a few times, Now its jest collecting dust.
 
 Think I might use it this summer tho to burn off a few punds gained form fast food.
