This particular 42 watt puts out 2,700 lumens

Your 42 watt bulb is only 2700.
A 400 watt MH bulbs give about 55,000 lumens.
Do the math.

Also let me add that alot of your light will be lost just plain facts your lights are to low to produce good marijuana.
Dont get me wrong it will grow but you asked questions and I am trying to help you out.

No no Dr.FeelGood, by all means. Please dont mistake my posts for disbelief. I just want to make sure i understand. I have seen people state that the have stuff like 40K and all that. I read somewhere one here that max lumens beneficial was like 4,000 lumens per plant. And that 3,000 lumens was good. Please to enlighten me? what does MH bulb stand for?

I use MH for seed/veg then go to HPS(High Pressure Sodium) for flowering.
Ok Tok let me say it like this your lights arent bad if you use about 7-8 of them.
The reason is if you just have 1 at 2700 lumens then you will only be getting about 1200 lumens on your plant if that and the rest will be lost.
You will need to spread 7-8 42w 2700 lumen bulbs around your plants.
The good thing is they dont get very hot so you can put em pretty damn close to your mommas.
With 7-8 of them I would say you can grow 2-3 plants with great results.

i believe you are both right i just feel that DFG is saying that you can still use twhat you have but it's better if you get more of them to increase your light area. you want to make sure all leaves are at the ability to perform photsysthesis. One light will only cover the top of the plant and not extend to the rest of the leaves, PERFERBLY you would want a better light source like HPS,LPS, or MH bulbs which require more power and create more heat and obviously more expensive. I chose a CFL system because i'm poor and i am only dealing with a few plants, limited space, and i'm a new grower. Maybe later i'll get something better
I see. What then is the most amount of lumens that u can put on a plant while it still being beneficial?
the more the better this is why people get lights that are the right spectrum of light and have high lumen output the include the named bulbs above
