i second the use of rice,chicken and pasta they are all cheap filling and good for you
also get a brita water filter and drink a shitload of water

Just make meals like spag bol or chilli and take some freezable containers with you. Make a shit load at once and freeze what you don't use. Add rice or pasta and bingo.
Also try cooking with someone saves money. Every few weeks here we have a big meal between 5 of us with loads of Roast Potatos, Carrots, Broccolli, Parsnips etc. with like chicken or something. Well nice and soo cheap. Try and shop with someone too so you can buy in bulk and make use of any buy one get one free offers etc.
I wouldn't be too worried, its not hard to eat well cheaply so long as your not lazy.
