It popped out of soil basically the first of the year so about 6 weeks old but I've been using cfl's for veg so they grow slower than mh/hps. I switched to my hps today to speed up the process.Quote:

That plant is about 14 inches tall at the moment. I think that most plants will show their sex when they have fully matured and you don't have to switch to 12/12 for "preflowers" to show up.
This lights I'm using are called fluorex made by lights of america, they are 65w each and produce 4550 lumens. You have to get them within an inch of the tops of the plants to get the most out of these lights and minimize the area you are giving light to.You also need a fan blowing across the tops of the plants cause they do get pretty hot. I had 3 of these in about 2.5 square feet of space which gradually increased as the plants got taller. The lights are good for seedling and part of veg but they are not as good as a mh for veg. The lights are good but I would still add some of those coilshaped fluro's that fit in a regular socket for side lighting.
Here's a link to ebay where you can get them pretty cheap

the lights have to be wired to a powercord up before you can use them. results may vary
Males show their sex about 2 weeks earlier than females of the same age... so if you have 3 or 4 plants of the same strain, all started at the same time and some of them are developing really quickly.. chances are you have a male.
Males are balls on little sticks.. females are little sticks on balls protruding from the nook of the branch. Males will develope faster. and Females are easy to spot once the white hairs begin to show
Cheers,
Bob.
But remember, females can produce random male flowers... simply by nature or by stress. Often you'll get a single solo male flower lower on the branches.. the flower will only have a few weeks before it falls off...or you can simply pick it off before it releases any pollen..
Don't be fooled though.. that male flower you're picking off may be female... so it's best to be as sure as possible.
Jettazz's pic's are certainly of male flowers.. but that's not to say that the entire plant is male. The growing top(s) will provide you with detailed information about your plant... especially as it grows strong and gets closer to flowering
yeah a hermaphrodite... but if you're watching flowers and are unsure definatly wait. They will swell to identifable size before they pop open and release pollen. If alot of your plants are going hermie than it maybe the genetics. Hermie seeds have a higher genetic possibiliy to be herm so check that out. Herms aren't good.
Well the pictures are blurry but even from the blured looks of it you got your self a man (ZOMG) lol. Too bad :(.
O.K. I have enough room to keep the plant for now just to make sure it is infact male. the pic I took was from the top 25% of the plant.
