The NORML group at my college showed a video called "Busted" that shows what to do in police encounters. There was a lawyer there to answer people's questions, and he said that in Montana, probable cause was not enough...they MUST have a search warrant.Quote:

--- I've been pulled over numerous times with plenty of weight in my car.
The only way you're getting searched is if you're being pulled over for something not pertaining to a driving violation. Why smoke in your car? Smell should never be an issue. As long as you aren't representing yourself as a major thug or hippie, you're going to be fine; In other words, don't represent yourself as someone who might be associated with drugs. I.E - Really dark tinted windows, 20 inch chromes, and a thugged out outfit. Do those things mean the person is a drug dealer or someone driving with it? No. But cops are very quick to profile. A normal and respectfull guy wearing a collored shirt is not going to be asked to leave the car for a search. You shouldn't be doing something illegal on the road if you have something on you anyways .. just use extra caution on the road. And probable cause is a joke, i hate to tell all of you. The law is on their side as far as that goes..and it's really easy to create probable cause. If they want to search you, they will. don't give them any reason to search you. If you're super paranoid, or dealing (which will often lead to random pullovers and harrassment), I'd recomend finding a body shop willing to build a stash box in your car. its hard to find people who do it, but talk to people who would know about it and be patient, someone will turn up. A lot of stash boxes can go behind your airbag and are often smell proof. My supplier himself has beaten searches with this method....but be ready to pay 350 - 500 for it to be installed, unless you know the person personally.
A NORML group didn't come to my school, but I am a member of the NORML group at my college. In fact, in a few weeks, it is NORML week, and we're having all kinds of things on campus, including showing the movie "grass", having a "bake" sale, showing busted again (it was a huge hit the first time) a joint rolling contest (using legal herbs) and a party Friday night!!!Quote:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

of course when you have tyranny, all that's thrown out the window anyway.
