What if they were wrong and realized the possibility they had over-reacted but kept going at it basing their reactions on eachother. Finally they can't wake you up because you're high and dozed off, they freak out both high and paranoid and one calls 911. They finally wake you up and they just keep exaggerating so that they don't have to feel stupid for already calling the ambulance.
