No I hear ya man, and I know that soil cultures have alot of flavor to them, but the problem with most soils is that to get the right amount of nutrients to the roots the plant spends a little more energy expanding root growth etc. Now like I talked about in a previous post in the growing forums placing an air stone, bat guano, worm castings, highly enriched soil mixes and mycorhizal fungi the quality and quantity of soil bud can equal if not excede that of hydroponics/aeroponics. However my claims were quickly refuted by a number of people, but I do believe that that mix could yeild bud thats just as good if not better. However, with saying that I am an aeroponics fan because of the speed of the grow, the taste of the bud (I enjoy it), and how easily it smokes. Truely it's a matter of personal taste.
When I was talking about maximum genetic propensity, I was talking about the rate of growth and quality thereof. When plants are grown aeroponically they're supplied with the maximum amount of nutrients and oxygen needed for the plant to readily have everything that it needs to grow at the pace that it genetically is able to do. With soil growing unlocking these nutrients is a more trying task for the plant as it must seek out and find these nutrients when the nutrients around the immediately accessible soil has been exhausted. With that said a well thoughout and implemented soil mix would provided an over abundance of nutrients to the plant and thus would render the previous arguement null. Then we come to the guided conclusion that maybe aeroponics and hydroponics arn't all that they're cracked up to be. From there we must then analyze modern american drug culture. The modern american drug culture associates media with quality. Now, the bud farms in mexico are renowned to suck ass. The plants are of mixed and matched varieties with uncontrolled genetics and pollination. Hydro and Aeroponics are in controlled indoor environments under HID lighting with balenced and supplentary nutrients, temperature, and exposure. These plants are unfertilized (kine) therefore produce more thc containing tricombs than that of the soil grown mexican shit. So, when taking these factors into consideration it is easy to see how the modern american drug culture has associated hydro/aeroponics with quality. When im buying from other people I generally try and find out the most I can about the growth environment, when I hear hydroponics I associate that with higher grade quality than what is commonly available soil grown bud.
In conclustion proper soil grow does taste better (also a personal and subjective preference), yeild almost as much or just as much, and is just of high quality as hydroponics/aeroponics.
That bud isn't bad at all, it crackles a little bit, has a good aroma to it, lasts a relatively long time, tastes great, and gets you fucked up.
