I'm still using a candle and a bowl to vaporize! What I've read is in agreement with what many are saying: the Volcano is the only delivery unit worth spending a lot of money on. I've decided that if/when I buy a unit, it will be a Volcano (unless yet another 'better' model becomes available).
I could afford to buy a less expensive mid-range electrical unit, but for my use I'm actually happy with the ritualistic candle method! It's not as convenient (especially for groups) but I think it's more efficient than people seem to give due. There's no question from my own experience that it's significantly better on the lungs and conserves herb.
So, I'd say don't bother with the BC and get the Volcano if you can afford it. If you're new to vaporizing and want to do it cheaply, get a candle and a vap pipe.

I totally disagree. There's a lot like the BC Vap that have the glass dome and yeah, they aren't worth it. They're the ones giving vaps a bad name. I'm sure the volcano totally kicks ass but like I mentioned before, the Vapor Brothers works great too. The Vap Bros is def worth the $150. The Vapolution is a similar idea and should work good too. Don't think you have to spend $500+ just to get a vaporizer.

re: Vapor Brothers...
I considered one of those, but the issues I've read about are eventual failure of the heating unit and inability to evenly vaporize (partially burned and partially unspent). Is this a user thing or a design thing? I'm able to get an even and thorough vap with quick redistribution of the herb in a pipe.

I can't comment on the failure of the heating unit other than to say I've had mine for about 3 months and used it daily with no problems. 3 months isn't too long though so that's not much of a testimonial. As far as inability to evenly vaporize I've never had a problem. After a couple of hits I stir it up and take a couple more hits and it works fine. It takes a few tries to figure out the right heat setting and how fast to hit it. Too hot and/or too slow and you can burn the weed. After a couple of times even a stoner can figure it out though.

You should get a 2+ chambered bong instead. If you already have a bong you can buy one of those "ash catchers" to add onto it as a second chamber. I bought mine for $20. Still very smooth and a much cheaper then the Volcano.
