i agree. breukelen suffers from "happy land" syndrome. he lives such a great life in america, that he has no recourse but to be a bully to get others to do what he wants.
you think three thousand people dead is a big deal to people living in the ME or africa or the south americas? you're a joke. a little government-sponsored terrorism and that's all you need to destroy america has stood for for hundreds of years.
you're doin a heck of a job, breukelen.

Warfare amongst the Native Americans was constant. There were three motivations for fighting: to acquire personal prestige, vengeance for enemy attacks and to obtain prisoners for sacrifice. Captured women over twelve would be raped and then killed. Babies had their heads bashed against trees. Children up to ten years old would have their throats cut. Children from ten to twelve years old would be taken to be sold as slaves. Captured men over twelve would be taken back for torture. Our information about Indian torture comes from survivors and white observers. Jesuit priests living with the Indians gave detailed reports, as did European troops who were allied with different Indian groups. There were very few captives who survived to tell the tale. The question is why would anyone allow themselves to by taken alive? The answer is that they still hoped to escape. The Indians would first tear out their captives fingernails and would bit off their trigger or bow fingers. They would then tie-up their victims with leather straps. The prisoners would have their arms tied behind their back and their feet would be tied so they could only walk in slow shuffle. The Indians would cut the captives neck and shoulder muscles so they would be unable to work-out of their bonds. As they passed other villages of their tribe they would stop and let them in on the fun. The victims would be stripped naked and forced to walk between lines of Indians who would cut them, burn them and hit them. At this point they might be saved if an Indian women took a fancy to them. They would then become married and the prisoner would be adopted into the tribe. This rarely happened however. The real torture started when they arrived at the home village of the warriors. The torture could last up to a week. The captive would first be given over to the bachelor warriors. They would build a bed of hot coals with Indians holding torches on each side. The prisoner had to run back and forth through the fire while also being burned by the torches. This continued all day until the captive became unconscious. The next day he would be rested and fed. The third day the 14-18 year olds would play with the victim. The youths would cut and stab him in the arms, legs and bottom and then quickly plunge glowing brands into the wounds to stop the flow of blood. This was followed by another day of rest and refreshment. The next group to have a go at the captive were the women. The torture they inflicted was so horrible that none of our witnesses would describe it. Again there was a day of recovery before the final ordeal. The morning of his last day the Indians would build a six-seven foot high scaffold. This would be built near a tree with an overhanging branch. The prisoners arms would be pulled up to the branch and tied while he stood on the platform. This was done so the entire village could see the prisoner squirm. First they would make the captive eat his own flesh. They would for example cut off his ear and force him to chew and swallow it. Hot brands were then thrust down his throat, into his eyes and up his rectum. They would then tear his scalp off and pour burning pitch on his head. When it was clear he was near death they would break open his head with a club and then cut it off. His stomach was cut open and his intestines were cut-up and put on sticks for the children to carry around, as a sign of victory. His body was then cut-up and eaten by the tribe.
more of breukelen's fear-mongering. aparently, we're supposed to believe that EVERY native american tribe committed these acts, so of course that justified their extermination/genocide by the european settlers.
so now that must mean that every muslim is evil, and must be tortured.
you and tholiak should hook up and smoke together. crack heads think alike.

Hempity, AKA "Running Chicken Scalper", says, about the Case for Torture, "you are just justifying what you punks like to do anyway". By "you punks", he is referring to European white people, especially those in America - whom he will always be against, no matter who the enemy is, or what they do. Well, the man is wrong once again - on several counts. He is a great liar about history, and he says whatever suits him. Since he's got a small audience of high-school and college kids, many of whom don't know better, and a few '60's burn-outs, on his side, he just writes whatever he thinks will cause people to hate America, and her role in the world.
I would say that my position is similar to that of Mr. Levin, who wrote The Case for Torture (above). I make no apologies for this: Since 9/11 thereâ??s been no attacks on American soil by terrorists â?? so if that was accomplished by torture, then so be it. Today's definition of "torture", as carried out by secret agences, is a far cry from the barbaric rituals of the Indians.
before 9/11, there werent any terrorist attacks either. only difference is, noone was advocating torture.
take your fear and cowardice somehwere else. stoner's are way too smart to fall for your bullshit.

you're not free unless you're being tortured...and when you're tortured to death (as long as the torture wasn't the cause of death...), that's when you're really free.

I know that you, as a stoner that are "way to smart to fall for.....", but you're dead wrong about America not having terrorist attacks before 9/11. Maybe it was before you were old enough to remember. I happened to have been across the street from the World Trade Center, Feb. 26, 1993, when they bombed it the first time. We knew that they were trying to bring it down then, and they eventually did.

yes, 'they' certainly did try to bring it down then...and imagine how much further along the dictatorship would be if 'they' had...
mr. salem was a government patsy.

"Tapes Depict Proposal to Thwart
Bomb Used in Trade Center Blast"
By Ralph Blumenthal
Law-enforcement officials were told that terrorists were building
a bomb that was eventually used to blow up the World Trade Center,
and they planned to thwart the plotters by secretly substituting
harmless powder for the explosives, an informer said after
the blast.
The informer was to have helped the plotters build the bomb
and supply the fake powder, but the plan was called off by
an F.B.I. supervisor who had other ideas about how the informer,
Emad Salem, should be used, the informer said.
The account, which is given in the transcript of hundreds of
hours of tape recordings that Mr. Salem secretly made of his
talks with law-enforcement agents, portrays the authorities as
being in a far better position than previously known to foil
the February 26th bombing of New York City's tallest towers.
The explosion left six people dead, more than a thousand people
injured, and damages in excess of half-a-billion dollars.
Four men are now on trial in Manhattan Federal Court
[on charges of involvement] in that attack.
Mr. Salem, a 43-year-old former Egyptian Army officer, was used
by the Government [of the United States] to penetrate a circle
of Muslim extremists who are now charged in two bombing cases:
the World Trade Center attack, and a foiled plot to destroy
the United Nations, the Hudson River tunnels, and other
New York City landmarks. He is the crucial witness in the
second bombing case, but his work for the Government was
erratic, and for months before the World Trade Center blast,
he was feuding with th F.B.I.
Supervisor `Messed It Up'
After the bombing, he resumed his undercover work. In an
undated transcript of a conversation from that period,
Mr. Salem recounts a talk he had had earlier with an agent
about an unnamed F.B.I. supervisor who, he said,
"came and messed it up."
"He requested to meet me in the hotel,"
Mr. Salem says of the supervisor.
"He requested to make me to testify, and if he didn't
push for that, we'll be going building the bomb with
a phony powder, and grabbing the people who was
involved in it. But since you, we didn't do that."
The transcript quotes Mr. Salem as saying that he wanted to
complain to F.B.I. Headquarters in Washington about the
Bureau's failure to stop the bombing, but was dissuaded by
an agent identified as John Anticev.
Mr. Salem said Mr. Anticev had told him,
"He said, I don't think that the New York people would
like the things out of the New York Office to go to
Washington, D.C."
Another agent, identified as Nancy Floyd, does not dispute
Mr. Salem's account, but rather, appears to agree with it,
saying of the `New York people':
"Well, of course not, because they don't want to
get their butts chewed."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The result of the explosion:
6 civilians killed
Over 1,000 injured
105 firefighters injured - 5 admitted to local hospitals
reinforced floors almost 30 inches think blasted away on 3 levels below grade, plus a concourse level floor, leaving a crater about 150 feet in diameter at it's largest point.
On the B1 level, the operations control center of the Port Authority Police Department (and the fire command station forthe complex) was heavily damaged and rendered out of service.
On the B2 level, various walls of elevator shafts and freshair plenums severely damaged, allowing smoke to enter and rise through the cores of both towers.
Numerous concrete walls destroyed or damaged.
200,000 cubic feet of water poured into the lowest grade from damaged refrigeration unit supplies (from the Hudson River), sewer lines, fresh domestic water lines, steam pipes, and condensate return. Water 1.5 feet deep across the B6 level.
124 parked cars destroyed, 102 damaged.
Partition walls blown out onto PATH train mezzanine.
Numerous telephone conduits collapsed from ceiling onto cars (but phone service was not cut, miraculously).
Fire alarm and public address systems out of service.
Elevators out of service.
Water cooled emergency generators shut down due to overheating when their water supply was cut. This disabled the emergency lighting.
Sprinklers & standpipes out of service.
2,500 tons of rubble removed.
Clean up effort involved 2,700 workers per day, plus a total of 160,000 gallons of cleaning fluid and 200,00 gallons of detergent.
Restoration cost: $250,000,000.

Cheney Links Saddam to '93 World Trade Center Attack
Friday, July 2, 2004
Speaking in New Orleans on Thursday, Vice President Dick Cheney drew direct connection between Iraq and al Qaida's efforts to destroy the World Trade Center, noting that one of the key operatives in the first attack on the Twin Towers was granted sanctuary by Saddam Hussein.
"After the 1993 World Trade Center attack, Iraq gave sanctuary to one of the bombers, Abdul Rahman Yasin," Cheney told a gathering at the city's D-Day Museum. [NewsMax]
If the above is true then why didn't the U.S. go after Iraq following the 1993 WTC bombings?

actually my native name is "crazy upright"
crazy, because i live in other worlds more than this one.
upright, to show the children how a man stands.
your history is based on the "victors" views, mine is based on the truth, as i lived it, the truth is that you are frightened and your tongue is forked. my students are mostly sun-dancers and red road walkers, they would surely let me know if i lied, or was standing on the blue road.

Listen, Chief, the truth about torture in the Native American societies is NOT dependant on, or clarified by, your drug-addled delusional fantasies. The Indians were doing things to each other, enemy tribes, and the settlers that make the CIA and Army Intelligence methods of persuasion look like child's play - and this comes from forensic evidence gathered by archeologists, accounts by people that lived at the time, anthropologists, historians, and even the Natives themselves. You can try to whitewash history every chance you get, but the truth will out. You are a traitor to you own people, because you lie and bring shame upon those that have made sacrifices to keep worthwhile traditions of Native Americans alive: the first and foremost being honesty in all matters. You are a disgrace, and have no business teaching children anything.

i am not a chief, just a voice in a growing choir.
there are no traditions of torture in native culture i am aware of, the incidents you drag up happened so seldom and by so few as to be unworthy of mention, until the washitu came. better to mention the sun dance, sweat lodge or inipi ceremonies, it would ring much truer and they still go on today.
you folks always have to explain everything, you cannot look at a tree and say, "beautiful tree" you must classify, categorize, and label everything you see, it blinds you to the beauty of it.
i am no traitor to any people not even yours, you should be happy i teach, my teachings include tolerance for dullards like yourself.
