be sure to have your pipe in the water from the get go, dropping a room temperature pipe into boiling water can cause them to crack. you can also line the inside of the pot with tin foil to minimize ruining your cookware.

how about you just put the pipe in a plastic bag..keep it in the pan..when it gets hot you scrape your pipe because the resin will be so hot it will slide off yoru pipe like butter. I did it this way all the time.

yeah if the pipes temerature drops 15 degrees or more instantly, then it can break if it hits that pan. so put it in the pan while the water is still cold. whey if you boil a peice, when the resin goes away, will the smoke?
