i seriously doubt a 110 outlet will kill you (which is what is in the pic) but getting shocked isn't too much fun. best idea is to turn the breaker off (go outside your house and where the line from the powerlines runs to your house, near there should be a box on the side of the house that lifts up and you'll see a bunch of switches, one of them will go to your room, but the box could be in your house too) but it isn't absolutely nessicary, it's just for saftey reasons....i rarely ever turn off my breakers when working with the electricity unless it's a 220 (that can easily killl you) i just be sure to only be touching one wire at a time, because you have to be touching the positive and negative (positive is white, negative is black) wires to be shocked. one time tho, i had to fix something my grandpa went and did (he spliced an extension cord dirrectly into the breaker box) and while doing it, accidently connected the circuits of the 220....that hurt like a bitch, had some adverse side effects too such as i couldn't cordinate myself right, nor could i think right for a few days...
