Anyway, joking aside, by all means the post is great, as well as you can just walk right in as a UK EU without any customs check. Heathrow is a cakewalk in that direction. Once into the USA you have dealt with the devil, feel like stepping in freedom when you leave. Imagine as long as you had less than what the UK thinks is personal your exposure to any "crime" is the fine really at most. If you mail you will get a notice if it is caught and they are not watching the usa as a hot drug shipping country. Dude, you have the best chances anywhere to succeed in the direction you are going.
Coming out of the USA I can say in 6 years I have not talked or seen a customs agent. In all those years in the EU. ONLY when I go into the "land of the free" it becomes a gauntlet.
