HARD ON GOING HYDRO
I wish I could help you further, but I know nothing of hydro. But one of buds just stopped by and I asked him about his grow, and I just got off the phone from a soil grower, pretty much the same equipt. soil vs.hydro.
okay, hydro first. He used "advanced" nutrients. He said that was the brand, that's all I know.
He grows 6 plants, in 6 hydro buckets, under 400W of Mh for vegging, and 600W hps for flowering. He said a Hortilux bulb, a conversion bulb I believe. He vegged for 4 weeks, from clones, and they started as small 4inch clones, and after the 4 weeks of veg, he said they were about 1.5ft in height.
He then flowered for another 60days and yeilded 2ounces, each top of the plant, for a total of 12ounces in just tops from the 6 plants
I have another buddy who grows 5 plants, uses organic ferts, fish emulsion for vegging, and bat guano for flowering, under 400W mh for veg, and 600W hps for flowering. He uses 2 seperate bulbs though, not a conversion bulb. He grows organically in soil, and he yeilds about an ounce from each plant. From clones, he vegs for 4 weeks, and flowers for another 70-80days(depending on strain).
I don't know if this helps any, but from what I've seen personally, hydro grows faster, and more vigorous than soil. Hydro nugs are dense as fuck I've noticed, but the taste is not my fav. I wouldn't say the potency is better than soil, because a good soil grow can be just as, if not even more than hydro.
Anyways, best of luck

HARD ON GOING HYDRO
if your growing organic not chemical hydro then watch out for the massive and resinous buds... also watch out for the smell as these stinky pussies (females) tends to smell alot more when grown hydro. Also, you could get way better yield and potency than organic soil if done correctly :)
Happy Hydro! :D
