my favorite instrument is the Roland V-Synth (with the Vocal Designer expansion card) If a song uses this type of effect, it's automatically considered "good" in my book.

Double Bass, it's so smooth and chilled out.
Those Jamican oil drums, they sound really funky and they can have differnt notes on the different sides of the barrel.
