I thought the response was delayed because of beaurocracy - by the way, wasnt the Patriot Act and creating DHS supposed to fix that? That's what W is saying now.

Before that it was because help couldn't get to the stranded people even though hundreds of reporters and Harry Connick, Jr. found a way. But before that it was because they didn't know where the people were even though the refugees were all over TV. And before that it was because the states hadn't formally requested help.

No, No. It's not because of bangers. Hell, the STATE and LOCAL governments knew shit would eventually hit the fan. Where the hell was the planning from that level? You know why Houston was set up to accomodate the arrival of the New Orleans people? Because they know if that storm was to hit Galveston, it would be the same situation and they would be prepared! This isn't entirely the Feds fault by a long shot.

and i'm an honest person, but if i saw a guy raping a girl...or someone shooting someone else...i would do what i could to make sure that person doesn't get away with it. i would need a gun.

you don't have the freedom to just kill people, but i should be able to have that choice if someone threatens me or someone else.

i don't agree that that's all they're doing, that's my point...as i've said all along, they're extending those they disarm and forcibly evacuate into a wide net...not giving them the option of staying, even if their community sustained medium damage...and your house wasn't even flooded...
