Hell, even I knew, in my capacities as a regular everyday college student, that a giant hurricane hitting New Orleans would be this devastating. I saw it on a documentary about hurricanes years ago. Bush knew how much money was requested to fix those levees, and he denied that money to them so he could grab some oil in the Middle East. When you channel funds that could have been used on productive social programs and divert it to destructive murder programs, there really is no excuse. Some day I hope people will wake up to the hateful ideology that neoconservatism is, and the severe problems you run into expecting the corporate media to provide you with a non-distorted image of the world.

What a weird coincidence, the song "When The Levee Breaks" by Led Zeppelin just started up on my computer's playlist.

they won't wake up to what the neo-cons are doing...
it's going to be funny to hear what they say when another demopublican gets s'elected'...and how they oppose everything that person does, even though he'll just be continuing what lord bush has done...
just like they don't care what bush does, even when it's the same stuff that clinton did...george bush is bill clinton, on steroids.
meanwhile, bill's basically in the bush family, and hilary clinton's hanging out with rupert murdoch...
and they think these people have some real debates in public and oppose each other with their R's and D's next to their name. it's a joke.
it would be funny if it wasn't so sad they have no idea what a constitutional republic is or what the constitution stands for, and why it was fought for. it was over the same thing people are experiencing now. but whatever the fuck blog amsterdam goes to tells him otherwise. blogs...give me a fucking break.

whoa. maybe it's al-qaeda.
have the feds found an al-qaeda website linking them to the hurricane yet? or maybe osama passed a note to zarqawi about the hurricane...

I found myself listening to that song, too. Doesn't mean much, probably, except that the concept of breaking levees is not new. Maybe we need a president who listens to Zeppilen.

America is the greatest country on this planet. That said, there is a lot of really fucked up shit going on in America. It seems the Neo-Cons seem to always be able to completely control the media since it's in their pocket. I sit down daily just to see the utter bullshit that O'reilly and Hannity spew. In 1953 a break in the dikes and seawalls in the Netherlands killed 1,835 people and forced the evacuation of 70,000 more. Ten thousand animals drowned, and 4,500 buildings were destroyed. To prevent such a tragedy from happening again, an ambitious flood defense system was conceived and deployed, called the Delta Works (Dutch: Deltawerken). It's just a goddam shame that politicians wait to legislate corrections to enormous problems until there is blood all over the place.
