Hey, Penguin, this may sound stupid, but I thought I'd pass along something that saved my ass a long time ago:

Get a pamphlet from any charity...United Way, Police Athletic League, Planned Parenthood, whatever...

Buy a 99 cent package of cookies and put a couple in little paper bags, staple closed, then mark each bag a different price.

Keep them on a bedroom dresser, right out in the open.

I still remember my folk's deep sense of pride when they found out the rumours that I'd been dealing were only partially true...
