I've had a fan blowing on it since it was 6 days old. I have a window open in the bedroom with the closet at all times so it should be getting fresh air. The temp is about 75. I know that the light spectrum of the fluorex's I just put in are 6500k. The fluro's I had it under I'm not to sure of the spectrum. They were philips econowatt (I thought they were 40w but they were actually 34watt). The fluorex seems to have more of a bluish tinge to them than the fluro's. Since I've put the plant under the fluorex it's grown faster. There are secondary growth shoots showing at every internode and they werent there before I put it under the fluorex and it is now on it's eighth set of leaves.
Do you think my plant is so small because it's been in a 5 gallon pot since day 1? Too much time building roots,
Should I bend or top the plant?

Poor light and way too big of a pot.
Yes I think those both would play a role.
I wouldnt top, bend, or otherwise assault her until she is much bigger....let her get some traction on growth with your new light.
Those secondaries will die off or produce some tiny itsy bitsy bud.....if you let it grow bigger......
Its the top secondaries you wanna get growing....but I wouldnt mess with her right now.
Let her grow and when she's cranking it out at about 1/2 inch a day, then you might want to revisit the issue.

Also the plant has had abnormal leaf# growth (1 ,3 ,3/4 ,4 ,5 ,5/6 ,7 ,7) I have a mutant!!! . I just took a peek at her and I can see another set of leaves emerging (#9). The flourex seems to have increased my growth rate a lot.
Would it be wise to give it nutrients again. I have 20-20-20 with micronutrients (0.1%iron, 0.05% maganese, 0.05% zinc, 0.05%copper). on the container it shows different mixtures depending on whether it's in a garden or a house plant and I don't know which directions to follow. The dosages are quite different: for gardens 4 ml per liter and for houseplants 6 ml per 5 liters. I gave the plant a half strength of the houseplant directions which was very hard to measure cause I wasnt dealing with 5 liters of water. Maybe this is not enough.
Maybe I should stretch the plant for a bit by increasing the distance from the lights for a few days or would this be a bad idea?
I really appreciate your help harddon. You are truly an asset to our cannabis growing community!

maybe all this time the plant has just been filling up the pot with roots...I bet if you throw 50 dollars worth of fluro lights on it you will see a great improvement in growth. Or you could spend about 150 on ebay get a 400 watt HPS and really turn it into a PLANT. Like I said before plant looks great....but I bet some light would give it a huge growth spurt....root system is probably excellent. It does kinda look like lowrider....but hey light never hurts anything!! Good luck man

it looks good
it definately needs more light, no doubt about it
get a HPS light and you won't believe in your eyes with the results;)

Leave her alone for a bit.
Whatever nutes have been given havent been used yet....not all anyhow.....
If she is indeed accellerating her growth rate, leave her alone. If it isn't broke dont fix it.
MJ Plants are like kids...if they are quiet and behaving, leave them alone... :)
However, take specific measurements of her now and every 24 hours and advise the community of the growth rate.
Lowryder or not, we need to get her pushing nutes up the plant and growing new foilage.
Keep daily accurate measurements and let us know.
Thanks for the compliments....I am just returning what I have been given... :)
But I thought we are growing tomatoes....

Hey krippy. I have 4 fluorex lights (65w 4550 phototropic lumens each) but I cant figure out a way to have more than 2 of them on the plant without raising the lights up a lot. I'll have to wait until it gets taller. Right now an hps is out of the question as I'm extremely low on $ but I would really like one for flowering. I think I'll be o.k for a while with the lights that I've got. I realize that this will give me a low yield but this first grow is more of a learning experience. I've been watering from the bottom so I'm guessing that the root system is probably huge compared to the plant.
Here's a couple pics I just took. 1 is of the new leaves forming that wasn't there yesterday and 1 of the secondary growth (sorry they're a little blurry but I can't get my cam to focus properly.

I'll take your advice harddon and leave it alone for now and try to take measurments of it every day or so and I'll post pics whenever I feel necessary. The plant is really starting to smell also. When I inspect the leaves and then smell my fingers it almost makes my mouth water.
If the plant does turn out to be a male is there any way to force it into being a hermie ? I herd you can force a female into hermie with stress/changing light cycles.
I think I'll buy some superthrive also. Is there a particular place to get it (walmart/homedepot)?
Btw harddon congrats on 1600 posts!!

When your at home depot check out the fluro lights....you can get everything you need for like 25 bucks or less. Even 2 more sets of fluros would help. Also I dont remember if you had any reflective materials. If you dont the cheapest thing you can get would be emergency blankets. I think they are less than 2 dollars each. You will probably need a minimum of 2. Proobably go with 3 because since you have such little light....I would take one blanket and cut it into sections and carefully STRESSING CAREFULLY put it around the soil and under the plant....I mean we are desperate for light here. You can also check out big lots....sometimes they have deals on those spiral fluro lights. Be careful though as not all of them are good for growing. Besides its the cheapest alternative to the true CFL which run about 60 bucks complete. Bu we are working in a budget. But hey man you get an A for effort!!! Also if your fluros that are on it now are old...replace them. And check and make sure you have the COOL BLUE on it for vegging. Dont waste money on the ones that say for plants.....just the cheap cool blues. Keep us updated. I know you can get a tiny clamp reflecor and a cheap bulb for about 10 bucs....I bought a couple ....I used em for the seedlings. Hope this helps a little
