Hi all,

My wife and I have been in Texas now for three months and know nobody. Have not smoked since I left California and getting to our wits end. It's much harder here; people seem a little paranoid (or maybe it's me, some stranger asking people if they know "Mary Jane". Who knows.)

It's good to hear there are some of you out here. I'm in Denton County. If anyone is near here I'd LOVE to hear from them. :) [email protected]

Texas Stoner, I figure there are two big reasons why people here are much more paranoid than in California. First of all, this is big time Bible Belt country. Half my neighbors would call the cops and CPS if they thought I smoked weed. The other part is that the laws for possesion are much tougher than in CA. First of all, don't get caught with more than 2 oz, because that make it a felony. Secondly, don't get caught anywhere near a school or playground with any quantity whatsoever. Get caught with a joint at a school and that is a felony. Also selling any quantity is also a felony.

I'm no expert on the law, but I think that's a pretty accurate assessment.

Actually, laws are are better here in TX! In California anything over an ounce is a felony. Here it's anything over 2! It's just the attitude I guess. It feels almost legal there and people are alot more open about it. The first neighborhood party, three guys asked if we could "go out to the back side of the house". Definately not like that here where I live in Texas. (The whole bible belt thing rings really true.)

Also, if you went in front of a judge for anything under an ounce it'd be a joke. The judge would throw it out of court I think. It's just understood that, it's around, half the population does it, just don't condone it where kids are concerned at all. I believe that myself anyway. Just be cool about it. Like, "Do you smoke weed?" Reply: "No. Got any?"
