Anyone heard of doing this?

A candel does burn and the flame can make CO². A very small amount and the transfer of heat is not work the effort but hey, go for it.

BTW - It's not the candle that makes the CO² it's the color of the flame when it burns any blue flame can create CO². White gas burns blue just for the record.
